I have done a chargeback claim through Visa for the value of the LT1300 amp (450USD) because I doubt I'll ever see it and I am at the end of my 45 day window to go through Visa to deal with this.
Good for you FF. also contact steve.switzer@iowa.gov.I asked Discover about merchandise disputes and was told their window is six months.

Do you think you can repair it, just PM me any info and price and we can go from there. I don't want ED to repair it, but my local guy didn't want to touch it.

should be able to be fixed. PM sent.

Thanks. I'll get back to you when I get home later.

Looks like my credit card information has been stolen now.. seeing random charges popping up on my visa for a total of 500USD now. Hopefully just a coincidence and nothing more, but just a heads up to others if there is a chance that the two things are related.

I think there's another guy in this thread that expressed the same thing.

This is not new and is not limited to just you or me. I had my credit card was charged TWICE a few weeks after transaction with ED before. Good thing Credit card called me and cancelled these unscrupulous charges.
Holy moly, I ordered a couple towers like 2 months ago and had the credit card I used compromised. There were charges for ATT web hosting that were $300, and some misc other charges that got declined automatically before I called my company. It all totaled about $500.... INTERESTING.....

So for those of us that are stuck with dead amps (LT550 here), what to do?

Behringer EP2500 and make a custom panel to cover the plate-amp hole?
IIRC, there were similar posts in an Axiom(?) thread about unknown charges appearing. Seems it was due to some kind of malfunctioning or insufficiently robust API. So, it might be simply coincidental with respect to ED. These extra charges FF, can you comment on them with more detail?
Two charges on Aug 14. to "Photodex Corporation" for 249.95 USD each. Card is already cancelled now

actually there was another charge on Aug 6 for ONE usd to "Avaaz Foundation" or something, but it was refunded the next day so I didn't think anything of it

I picked up a Dayton from Parts Express, it fit right into the opening of my LT/550, A350 sub. And I think I will mail my burnt out one to daveds50, as he said in the post above he can probably fix it for me.

Dave - How does the sub sound with this amp compared to the LT550? Thanks for the link.

Which sub amp did you buy, specifically?

just to let you know something, i am/was the out of house repair center for Elemental Designs. ( i also private contract for many other manufacturers ) before anyone blames me for their past repairs taking so long, that is not my fault. my turnaround is same day as arrival, or next day if it gets here late. your wait, all depended on how long it took them to get it to me. but nothing stayed in my possession for more than 24 hours.
you may have noticed that i said i "am/was" the repair center... thats because they have not paid their bill since January. yup, it is quite a significant amount. most of my e mails and phone calls are ignored too. mad.gif
while i have been accepting repairs through them recently, however, i wont accept payment through them until the bill gets paid. no reason to add to a bill that probably wont get paid after all. repairs get shipped directly to me, and i get paid by the customer. then it is shipped directly back. on the bright side, the turnaround is really quick this way.
sorry, not much i can do about their warranty, or orders. my company is not part of them.
i do not know what is going on with them. i would like to get the bill paid... but i am long beyond holding my breath.
i do have a few car amplifiers, and a few home subwoofer plate amps that did not make the last pallet shipment back to them in January, and am not going to ship them back until the bill is paid...
( they do not belong to customers, but are "B Stock" units of theirs ) but all combined value does not come close to what they owe.
or, since it has been quite some time, and it seems that is not real likely to happen, get rid of them. on the other hand, my computer subwoofer is now powered by one of the LT300 plate amps. cranks pretty good ! dont think i am going to give that one up. smile.gif
anyway, good luck to everyone. while their lack of payment wont break my company, it did set me back for a little while. hopefully you all get refunded or get your products.

Hi,

You don't by chance have a spare LT300 amp laying around do you? I sent mine back for RMA and have been promised several times that it would ship, but as with everyone else I am not hopeful. I'm dead in the water with cabinet and driver, it's very difficult to find an amp that fits this cutout.

I know it's a stretch, but thought I might ask. Feel free to PM me. - Cheers
post #14597 of 15215
Not sure whether this is mentioned in the last few pages, but now phone calls go directly to voicemail, and all mailboxes are full.

The same thing happened to me several years ago, it was traced back to the owner of a web hosting company that I had used and began exhibiting inability to deliver services. He was eventually caught fleeing the country and was prosecuted. If related, I wouldn't mind seeing Alex in stripes, to be honest. Even if not, I wouldn't mind seeing Alex in stripes mad.gif

i have a few:

http://s1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/daveds50/?action=view&current=plate.jpg

thats about 1/3rd of what i have of those.

most of what i have are LT200... however, it is no problem to do a LT300 conversion, and it does not cost much more to do so. the only difference is the output transistors, a few capacitors, a few different resistor values, and moving some parts around the board. that gives you that extra 100 watts RMS.

i still need to figure out what i have into them as far as parts and labor, and i cant seem to find the time right now to go through my paperwork and figure it out. if i get time before my trip, i'll let you know... but more likely after the 23rd. ( < for explanation of why the 23rd, go to the other thread )

meanwhile... if anyone does get through to eD, tell them to send _all_ the customer RMA units to me marked with who it belongs to, or send them back to the owner. i dont like seeing people left with nothing, when there is a perfectly fixable amp they own that is being held hostage for some reason or another... this whole situation makes me embarrassed to say that i did have something to do with them at one time.

I bought the sub amp the link goes to.

Gorilla - the amp sounds good, just not as strong as the original, but it does crank enough. It has a low setting that I turned on and I can hear it rumbling at low volumes. My TV Room is 16 X 16 with a 12 foot cathedral ceiling and the new sub provides enough oooomf. But I will get the original repaired if possible and hold it as a spare for now.

Many thanks to you daveds50. You provide help even if you yourself are one of those who are owed big money by Elemental Designs. I just can't imagine how Elemental Designs can go as low as what they are doing to their customers right now. They have been given many chances to straighten up their act and to think they will end it like this. I hope the Iowa State Atty General's office will go after Elemental Designs hard.

This may seem like a stupid question, but what would everyone thoughts be about buying two used A7s-650 kits from a fellow forum member now? I am worried most about getting replacement parts if anything ever does go wrong, but now with DAVEDS50 on here maybe that softens the blow a little knowing we have someone who could potentially fixed failed amps...drivers though are another story.

I have been in the market for some good subs and almost got the the eD's a couple months ago but decided to hold off. Know I see another local listing for two Epik Empires that are around the same price and am not sure which ones I should go with. Either way I would not have warranty (except for the drivers in the eD's) on either subs, but wonder which would be the best choice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't really say which is the better choice, but if you go with the kits, the price you should pay should reflect your very valid concerns about difficulty in getting replacement parts.
I have 6 kits and if any drivers go and eD is no more I would just drop in a different driver, the Lmsr 12 seems like a good match.
The LMS-R 12 has a 1" smaller cut out diameter. So not a quick drop in replacement, at least for some people.

1K for both kits. Definitely seems like a good price for me, but my concerns over replacements is growing. On the other hand I can get two Empires for ~ 1,100 so it makes it tough for me. They are both about the same driving distance, so I guess it comes down to which I think will have less problems (which from what I have read both companies have issues with amps). Maybe not as much in Epik's case though.

Thanks much. No worries on the timeframe, this thing has been sitting as an empty shell since January.

I have been trying very hard to get back in touch with them to just send the defective amp back to me so that I can attempt to have it fixed locally, and you know how that goes.

If anyone else is aware of a plate amp that will fit the A3-300 cutout dimension please share! I'm not nuts about their amps given history, so a replacement would be great.

Same Credit Fraud issues here as welll .... I had to have 3 cards replaced. Each time after I made an ED purchase. I didnt think much about it at the time, but after seeing others with the same issue it hardly seems coincidental. I have never had CC fraud issues before or since.

BUYER BEWARE!

My 3yo A5-350 finally died.
It has LT.500 amp. Bought it shortly after it was released.
Used it lightly over the years, I'm not a subholic, so I calibrated the sub only for LFE (hardly used, low levels only).

I contacted eD via emails, but didn't get any reply.
For some reason, my stomach started turning and got reminded to that other sub company.

Went here to check and sure enough, my suspicion confirmed, the company is no more. frown.gif

While I'm quite upset for having a $870 end table (broken sub & pad), I feel for those who are out thousands.
I just don't understand why a company that was (maybe looked) thriving & growing, could collapse so quickly.

Super Dave, do you mind if I PM you? i'd like to ask you the details on removing/replacing the ed Amp with that Dayton SPA250 amp.

Additionally, I've contacted Daveds50 as well, to see if I could ask him a favor to repair my amp (or buy a replacement from him)

Very sad. Another American company is no more.
I used to recommend them to my friends, even feeling proud about how it was made in USA and all.
wow, i had no idea all this was going on. i got there email of close out sales and just got a new car so i ordered some stuff from them. i think i snagged the last 6.5 components at $60 and some bass gravy 8s. i suspected something was happening because things just didn't feel right and i started asking questions on their board right before it went down. luckly i did recieve my equipment but i was getting worried since i never got confirmation or shipping info from them. its a real shame, i used really stand up for this company and their products. i've been out of the hobby for a few years but i went straight to them for my new project. i guess i'll keep intouch with these forums to see how this all plays out.

i feel a little guilty that i was able to come in last minute and buy and recieve from them with all these others assed out on their money.
