Kudos to the eD guys. They promised to get me my A2-300 before Christmas, and Fedex is delivering it today. The wife won't let me hook it up until Christmas, but I might just have to "test it" first to make sure everything works okay

I'm seeing a new A5S-350 on their site. Interesting. I'm going to assume that it's starting price is already adjusted for when the prices go up soon. Even though I ended up not getting an eD sub, I'm glad to see more options, I've got other friends that might need one.

You guys are amazing.

Yeah, we weren't going to put it up until after the first...or even announce anything about it. Someone really wanted to put in an order for one though so we got it online.

Yes, that price is the price reflecting the difference between the vented and sealed as there isn't really a lower price we could sell that thing at.

I don't see it...what's the difference between the A5-350?
and what? the a5s-350? its a sealed unit
Is there an auto on/off on the a5-350 or the a7s-450?

Sealed = non-ported?
Vented = ported?

Yes.

Does this mean the A5s will be a better sub for music?
I wouldn't say Better necessarily, but rather different. There are some decent threads of sealed vs. ported recently that may assist you a bit. Until the numbers are known for the A5s, I can't comment if it would be missing something you will be disappointed missing.

Is there a middle ground for HT and music? Everything I run across is slanted one way or the other. I'm fanatical about music but I also want a great HT system.

Look at mid level and up on ED, SVS or Epik and you get both.

As asked above, need to know your budget.

My budget is hopefully less than $1,000

The eD sub caught my eyes these weeks. I did not have any plan to upgrade the sub. But I seemed to have heard some nice bass from this board and wish I could hear it whenever I want.

My sub was from the Onkyo HTIB 770 6.1 system in year 2004. I just upgraded the front to Klipsch Synergy F-3 and will get the matching center C-3. No plan to upgrade the 3 surrounds, at least for now. My room is 22Dx15Wx8H and couch is in the middle and a dining set is at the back of coach. At the back of the room are stairs and kitchen which has a large open to the room. I like almost all kinds of music and also watch a lot of movies. Which sub is best suited to this room and my Klipsch Synergy F-3 sets? I am looking at the A3 300 and prefer to get A5 350. I may not buy any if I obey the wife. But I may make a spur of the moment decision without telling her.

well, I gave in to the urge to grab one of the subs before the price bump.

Ordered an A5-350. Now the bigger question -- where to put the darn thing!

I have an SVS 16-46PC+ in my main HT, which is about 4500 ft^3. It can certainly hit pretty darn well for LFE w/ my corner placement and given the layout of the room, though I was planning on getting a 2nd sometime in the next yr.

I was planning on doing some Xmas shopping for myself to get subs for my secondary HT (which is about 2100 ft^3) and my 'home office' (which is about 1300 ft^3). Now using the term 'home office' is probably a bit generous -- it's really more of a gaming room, and has much better components and speakers than my secondary HT.

I've been planning on getting 1 Hsu (either a 3.3 or a 2.3 depending on which room I choose) and 1 eD to go w/ my 1 SVS, just to get some variety in my systems (as I've done w/ my amps and spkrs, just for a change of pace and a wide range of experiences ).

So my question to you guys would be, should I:

1) Move the SVS to my home office and put the A5-350 in the main HT? Upside is probably more oomph for my largest, main room. Main downside is that my wife REALLY likes the both the small footprint of the SVS and the fact that it doesn't LOOK like a subwoofer to the uninitiated. Also, to be frank, she won't like the finish of the eD AT ALL.

2) Put the eD in my home office? Upside is that I could be in absolute bliss w/ an A5-350 in a 1300 ft^3 room and my wife does not bother me about ANYTHING in what she considers my space. Downside is that it may not be using the A5-350 to its full capabilities.

3) put the eD in my secondary HT, a room in which my wife cares less about aesthetics than the main HT, and a room that's larger than my home office. To be frank, the biggest downside is that, of the 3, it's probably the room I use the least, and most of the stuff I have in there (Wii, an old series 2 Tivo, some Polk spkrs, no ps3 as opposed to my other 2 rooms) isn't quite as bass-oriented, and I won't be getting full use of the sub.

What would you do?

Oh, and I can't wait to see what this sucker can do!!

Edited to add: of course, if Craig's testing on the MFW-15 yields good results, all these plans will be out the window, and I may have to re-think things!

ED A7S-450 (!,300 watt)
Epik Castle
SVS PB12-Plus
SVS 16-46 PC-Plus

For slightly over $1,000:
SVS PC-Ultra
ED A7-450
Epik Tower
Oh yea....ordered me a A7S-450 was planning on buying the A5-350 but figured I would upgrade to an 18in sealed unit with 1300watts rms, I also got the eq2 for fun hopefully it will help raise the lower level output like everyone says.

eD told me the A5-350 would be ideal for my room so the A7S-450 should be more than ideal.... I'm a bass head and I know it.

What's the difference between the A5-350 and the A7S-450? Would one of them be better for music?

the A5-350 is a PORTED unit with a 15" driver and 550 watts amp
the A7S-450 is a SEALED unit with a 18" driver and a 550 or 1300 watts amp

I got my A5-350 a day two days earlier than I was supposed to, FEDEX rocks due to the holidays they are getting stuff out and delivered. Got this monster upstairs and installed (125lbs of woofer is NO JOKE). All I can say is eD makes a hell of a product and I am very satisfied customer!!!

Cheers
