Enough with all the clutter (graphics) on my HD screen! - Page 9

You should see Soccer matches... it's the screen clutter capital of the world! (cause there are no breaks for 45 mins), that's w/o counting the ads around the field itself.

I wasn't referring to the red Coca-Cola beakers on the tables that were product placement, I was referring to a Coca-Cola po-pup that appeared from bottom right, stayed on the screen for a about 15 seconds and then went away, much like the pop-ups to tell you whats on now, whats on next, etc. I'm used to seeing pop-ups for on-now and coming TV show pop-ups but not for a product like Coca-Cola. What's next a pop-up for Viagra?

I hope they don't dick around with that one.

I'm watching tonight's "The Biggest Loser" on NBC and there is no bug!!! There was just a color bug over the opening credits and the rest of the show has had no bug or any popup ads.

See NBC, the world will NOT come to an end just because you're bug isn't on!

I can just imagine some NBC executive sitting at home watching, and seeing that there's no bug. He'd probably be on the phone screaming at someone to get it fixed within seconds.
The bug stayed off for the entire two hours. No popup ads either. The only bug that came on was the tv rating bug.

There must have been some technical issues.

It appears NBC's blunders such as their annoying ad bugs are finally catching up to them.

EXAMPLE ONE: NBC gets CW type ratings for Quarterlife and gets pulled after one airing.

EXAMPLE TWO: NBC's Amne$ia, which somehow pulled in the highest number of viewers in a year in that time slot at 9PM last Friday, (and yet could still only equal the numbers of viewers of the botched Season Finale presentation of 1 vs 100 an hour earlier and 1 vs 100 was competing against game show rival Price is Right last week), drops big time in number of viewers this week. Not only lost big time to Price is Right in total number of viewers, but also in age 18-49 demographics. Price is Right is a show that one would think would have many 50 and older viewers and not do so well with younger adults.

EXAMPLE THREE: NBC's decision to put Baby Borrowers on hold. They could have been advertising that it was coming soon and put that show on in place of Quarterlife if it was a dud like it now turned out to be. All they did was waste their own promo time by advertising this show earlier and then changing they mind to air it later on.

EXAMPLE FOUR: My Dad is Better than Your Dad gets moved to 8PM Monday, L&O gets moved to 8PM Wednesday to put the higher rated Deal or No Deal at 9PM both nights instead of 8PM both nights in an attempt to get more viewers throughout the night on both nights.

All of this couldn't of happened to a better network. Now if Deal or No Deal tanks in the ratings, NBC is going to be in a world of hurt.

What I mean is, that's advertising space....right now they are just "easing" us into this so by the time it happens we're all used to it.

I think the most annoying one I've seen lately was the Daytona 500 one.....this big car with the road extending nearly to the middle of the screen.....ugh.

You are definitely right.. I think this is just a preview of what will eventually happen with these popups and bugs.

I know it's not an HD channel(and probably never will be), but even TV LAND has sunken to the level of using the ad bug to advertise their next deviation from the original concept of TV LAND. "High School Reunion/Wednesday at 10" is shown with the bug.

I think it's bull that TV LAND does all this "original programming".

What do "ad bugs" have to do with any of that?

I guess he's trying to say that people aren't watching the shows because they are annoyed by them. Personally, I think it's just that people are starting to realize the shows just suck...

I saw it tonight during AFV. I'm sorry to say it is bigger than NBC's.

I just walked past the TV room and noticed that the show that was on was in HD and had zero bugs. This was on FOX. Have the HD gods finally provided us with HD utopia?
The bug is usually not on Sundays b/c programming consists of SD cartoons. But, that new sitcom was HD, so it should have been on. Ahhhhh, how I wish the HD gods would answer us, but it was probably due to NASCAR running long and it wasn't worth changing the timing on the bugs. See FOX, the world didn't end!!

I still wonder what happened with the "Big Loser" last night. No bug. How odd for NBC.

I flipped over to SD "LOST" on Thursday and the Oprah bug wasn't on. If it was absent during the new show, it looks like ABC has enough sense to remove their ad crap during big shows.

This "ad bug" trend started shortly after the writers strike stopped new programs on the networks. I guess we can only hope this new trend will end as soon as new shows begin in April.

It wasn't an accident that there was no ABC ad bug during the 8PM repeat of Lost. It was removed for their "enhanced" text at the bottom of the screen.

Too bad NBC doesn't do the same with reality shows like 1 vs 100, Deal or No Deal, and even Celebrity Apprentice where Jungle sticks out so far that it slightly overlaps the contestants name.

Instead of this this:
xxxxxxxxxxx
xNew
xLipstick
xJungle {spaces}Piers
xNext
xxxxxxxxxx

NBC does this annoying thing:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xNew
xLipstick Jungleiers
xNext
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I think you get idea.

Man have you seen the ABC one?

DANCING WITH THE STARS
SEASON PREMIERE, MARCH 17 8/7C

Was that annoying or what, I hope they don't ruin Lost with that one tonight.

On Tonights repeat of Smallville, in that see-through whitish text -

SMALLVILLE
ALL NEW
MARCH 13
(CW in large
takes up 3
text rows)

If you are going to have an ad bug during Smallville, which I am totally against to make myself clear, this is a much better show to advertise than TOP MODEL, PUSSYCAT DOLLS, or even BEAUTY and THE GEEK. Smallville viewers will most likely watch Smallville over the other 3 shows they have over-advertised the last couple of months.

Of course if you keep advertising new episodes of Smallville during the entire episode, people will probably stop watching Smallville putting CW network in a catch-22 situation. They lose a little advertising by not putting the ads on, but they lose viewers by putting the ads on. I think the elimination of these annoying ads or the shortening of these ads to a few seconds far outweighs the loss of viewers who are alienated by the episode length ads. But apparently NBC, ABC, CW, etc. think otherwise.

Yes, I see the info, and then wish it would go away. Sometimes I'm following action or reading something shown on a show and get distracted by bugs that go over what I'm trying to look at.
ABC was horrible last night. The "Dancing with the Stars" ad was almost covering the graphics from "Supernanny". Later in the show I noticed that the bug disappeared when the show's graphics came on.

BOYCOTT DANCING WITH THE STARS!!!

During the most recent Moment of Truth, they had an on-screen ad for the movie Horton Hears a Who briefly appear. I think that's the first time I've seen on-screen ads used for something other than the network's other shows/specials.

FOX has done it during NASCAR and other SD shows.

Their news isn't HD, so I guess this post is off-topic!

I'm watching Babel via the free preview on D*. There was a big ass red banner for the Tudors. Does Showtime usually do this?
