If you are going to have an ad bug during Smallville, which I am totally against to make myself clear, this is a much better show to advertise than TOP MODEL, PUSSYCAT DOLLS, or even BEAUTY and THE GEEK. Smallville viewers will most likely watch Smallville over the other 3 shows they have over-advertised the last couple of months.
Of course if you keep advertising new episodes of Smallville during the entire episode, people will probably stop watching Smallville putting CW network in a catch-22 situation. They lose a little advertising by not putting the ads on, but they lose viewers by putting the ads on. I think the elimination of these annoying ads or the shortening of these ads to a few seconds far outweighs the loss of viewers who are alienated by the episode length ads. But apparently NBC, ABC, CW, etc. think otherwise.
