Instead, for less than $.50, we get delivery in as little as a day for most 1st class mail - and most of it comes right to your house. Back in the 1800's, people usually had to go into town to the general store to get their mail.
I totally agree with you, Mr. TV. The analogy I tell people is, where else can you give someone 47 cents and say, "Here. Take this to New York for me."

I mad.gif HATE mad.gif Cell Phones. I'll be in a conversation with someone, then a "little musical tune" will play and I am IMMEDIATELY Cast Aside, as the person I was talking to reaches into his or her pocket to retrieve a device which is jammed into their ear. I wish I knew where I could get one of those devices that would JAM those devices so I wouldn't be interrupted by them. I could also use those devices on those who INSIST on using them while driving (and disrupting the traffic while using them). And I don't want to hear 'But what if it's an emergency?" TOO BAD! We got along for HUNDREDS of years without them!
Do you also hate when those damn kids play on your lawn?

On the way home from paying the water bill at the office, I noticed a dish next to a garbage can in a front yard.

I say let the networks shoot themselves in the foot.

(Of course I don't know if they got rid of cable entirely or just switched providers. I didn't stop to ask...biggrin.gif)

Okay... Now I'll bitch... Please stop with the damn tweets on my screen while I'm watching a show. I really don't give a crap about what others think while I'm watching a TV program. If I want to know who's going gaga over something on a show, I'll come to a website or turn on my (oh wait I don't have one) Twitter account. That's the stuff that's really annoying me now.
I also object to the constant(on the screen all the time, except during commercials rolleyes.gif) #name of the program. ABC has their ABC bug in the lower right corner of the screen and now the damn #program name in the upper right! Guess we have 2 other corners open for crap eh?
I'm waiting for them to switch all programming back to 4:3 so they can use the left and right of the screen to show commercials for the entire duration of the program. They could also start filming TV shows in 2.4:1 to tout it as being more "cinematic" and then show commercials on the top and bottom of the screen the whole time. rolleyes.gif

The #name of some lame reality show that is coming up and stays on the screen all the time just makes the channel worthless. I was hoping the big 4 channels would not do this but ABC is. But I haven't watched ABC since football season.

National Geographic channel bug driving me INSANE

Somewhat new plasma owner here (Panasonic GT50, 3 months old) and I'm amazed by the picture quality every time I turn it on. I'm running HD-Masters settings and I love it....

BUT, National Geographic channel is HORRIBLE. The sharp strong yellow logo seems to be perfect to cause very fast burn in. I stopped watching the channel for about a week to allow it to dissipate but "Locked Up Abroad" pulled me back in for back to back episodes. With just TWO hours of viewing I had noticeable burn in that I saw during commercial breaks!

Is there anyway to avoid this? Can I write someone and file a complaint? I'm currently running in "standard" setting now (sooooo dim!) to reduce the chance and trying to run in the HD Size 1 95% setting to move that logo out of the burned in spot, and of course pixel orbiter is on but holy cow, two hours and burn in?! It's frustrating because its about the only channel beside science channel that actually shows educational or mind blowing programming at times...

I'm almost thinking of watching it in zoom mode to move the logo off screen but then I lose like 20% of the image... $1000 amazing TV and I struggle to watch content I enjoy because of a god damn logo. Why don't these networks alternate the side of the screen the logo is on each commercial break to help give it time to wash away the after image without the viewer having to change the channel to get it to fade!?

The worst part is that they have some snipes that actually reference the fact that they're annoying. It's like a double slap in the face.

Can AMC get any worse. They have story notes on the screen during their movies. There is screen clutter all over the screen with text and their logo.

Ok, it's official! All premium channels have gone to crap! I saw a side split during the end credits to The Dark Knight Rises on HBO! Yes, HBO!!! Some black woman talking about truebie or something or other. And I went to their facebook a couple of times and praised them for not doing that crap! It's all principle...I don't like supporting putting forth the money for a premium viewing experience (including being able to listen to end credit music) and still seeing the same adverising crap that regular tv channels do. Period!

SHO - *spit*
Starz- *spit*
and now HBO - *spit*

The regular TV channels that do it cost $100 a month to watch them. *spit*

Pay TV has been ruined by corporate greed.

If you really feel this way, you'll cancel your subscription. Posting here accomplishes nothing, and HBO won't care how much you complain as long as you're still giving them your money. They will only stop doing something if it causes their viewership to decline.

Not that it matters, but it was a free preview weekend for HBO. Seeing those snipes and splits is usually what clues me in to that fact.

Yes, I am done with premium channels as I can't trust them anymore. One puts out the extra money for premium service, they should get it 24/7/365. A free weekend just shows me that they will degrade their premium service, not letting one who DOES pay sit back and take in the end credit music to the movie they just watched, but instead experience an interruption with an ad.

I suppose I should write a letter thanking them for helping me save my money?

Agree 100%. There was a free preview of HBO, Cinemax and Starz this weekend. I think I found one thing I wanted to watch.

I've paid a lot of money to my provider over the last 20+ years .. these days, I try and maximize my plan by utilizing the DVR's to snag as much as I can .. this, in turn, has dramatically reduced the amount of money we used to spend on rental .. especially on a series .. like films in theaters, most are not going to sweat the end credits, although I will agree that sometimes I'll listen because I'm a music fan and maybe it's something that I seem to like ..

Looks like Ring Of Honor Wrestling (syndication) is joining the sniping crowd. Yeah this only happens once per show but you know how it starts, right? Image is taken from the ROH web version of the show but I've confirmed with my DVR recording taken from CW23 that this snipe is there at the same point of the broadcast last week during the TV title match between Matt Taven (champ) vs Eddie Edwards.

I've seen that same crap near the end of The Rikki Lake Show also on the CW23 mad.gif I'd suspect it was limited to CW23 but if you say you've seen it on ROH web version then it must have to do with the CWs syndication..... either way it sucks IMO!
Except ROH is produced by Sinclair Broadcasting which also owns stations in markets that are not CW affiliates. So this lies more on Sinclair than the CW.
We get this crap on our ABC station on all of the daytime shows and not just once per show. Sometimes there are two back to back and sometimes on for 3 or 4 minutes. When it first started about two years ago, I notified several of the shows and the network that I would stop watching their shows if it continued and also complained to the local station who is selling the ad time. It has only gotten worse. So I have stopped watching our ABC affiliate during the day. Hope their advertisers like that!

I wonder if we're being set-up for some enterprising broadcasters to start offering new, $premium$ channels with "no advertising clutter"?

More likely, this is not something that matters all that much to the vast majority of viewers. While I would prefer to have programs clutter-free, I won't stop watching or pay a premium to avoid snipes. The same goes for seeing movies in theaters, where commercials are now being shown even though I've paid to see the feature. I object to that practice, but not enough to boycott theaters.
I haven't watched ABC or Fox since football season. Both networks have horrible programming.

Declining viewership won't cause any changes since they'll deny that this is an issue. The marketing types that came up with this won't take the blame.

As for posting here, isn't that what this thread is about? Why post anything then?

Me there's stations I will avoid due to snipes. I always forget but as soon as I see them I get ticked off and leave. Bugs I think are annoying but not the same.
