So, my girlfriend is buying me a new AVR to replace the Denon AVR-3803 that I sold to a friend. Her budget is $1000, but I am willing to add the proceeds of the 3803 on top of her 1K. So I am willing to spend up to $1500 combined.
Anyway, I have the following Def Tech setup:
BP7002 towers up front
CLR 2500
(4) BP2X surrounds
Supercube 1
Sources:
DirecTV HD via HDMI
PS3 via HDMI
Toshiba XA2 via HDMI
60" Sony XBR2 (SXRD TV)
I love jazz, alternative, acoustic, and vocals as far as music goes. So my system will play music and movies equally. To be honest, I give music more priority than movies. So the receiver has to perform better with music than movies. I've narrowed my choices to the following (in my order of preferance-1 being greatest):
1. Marantz SR8002
2. Pioneer Elite 94TXH
3. Onkyo 905
I had an Arcam AV300 a while back, but with my Energy setup. I sold that a while back. Unfortunately, no one locally has an AV350 to audition with my Def Tech. Plus I do not believe the AV350 decodes the new HD audio formats.
What other AV receivers should I consider in the sub $1500 range. I'd especially like to hear from those that have Def Techs.
Thanks,
Joe
