The firmware screen (press info when loader open) reports the same except the _0924 is missing. Loader code is 0321 and I can't recall what the loader code is with 1.6. Probably the same.
I still curious if anyone is successful updating from Ethernet. I never did hook mine back up since I moved. I'm too chicken to do the online updates anyhow.
I forgot try Avatar. An obvious one to try since it prompted the release of 1.5 which broke more than it fixed. I will report back only if it does not load. BTW - the newer Fox titles though fixed take forever to load. Not quite as bad as say some of the Narnia movies, but slow none the less. Skyfall seems to load quite a bit faster than Life of Pi. I thought that one was going to choke, but it finally loaded.
typos, thanks for catching that. I've corrected my original post. That's what happens when you write something down in order to enter it on the computer in another room.
FYI, I hadn't updated my other system, the 1.6 software displays S/W : 100601.01_0321_0924.11_XAA
Addition, since I had not updated my second unit and I have a far better internet connection than I had previously, I hooked up the ethernet cable to that second unit.
Once it did it's power up thing, it informed me that there was new firmware update available. I told it to proceed and it the network update worked flawlessly
The system displays the correct S/W version and just like my other unit, plays HD-DVD and DVD fine (just like my other unit, the B-R head in the loader is non-functional).
I still can occasionally kick myself for not picking up a spare loader when they would occasionally appear on eBay. I'm using newer B-R players now, but I have a habit of trying to keep my equipment working as well as possibleEdited by mhobart - 10/21/13 at 12:06pm
