I swapped out for another copy at Best Buy just to make sure my copy wasn't defective, but the same problems appeared again.
Other than these glitches, picture quality is outstanding and image qality is on par with Cars on Blu-Ray, which by the way no problems at all. Hopefully firmware update might fix this. This is the only glitch I've encountered so far from the 20+ Blu-Ray/HD-DVD titles I've viewed.
I also just bought and played this Bluray DVD Ratatouille and encountered the same as you. The angle icon pops up several times during the movie and when it does, the audio glitches for a split second. I also noticed the audio stutters a split second when there seemed to be a scene change or chapter change over. Other than that the movie played all the way through with outstanding video and audio. Of course the DTS-HD-MA audio stream via my HDMI 1.3 to the Onkyo NR-905 receiver was showing up as plain DTS but sounded great nevertheless.
I also just had another sort of symptom just happened. After the movie finished playing, I jumped back to the beginning and let it play the commercial ads for the other movies and I walked away for awhile. When I came back about 20 minutes later, the TV display was black and blank. I thought someone in the family came by and turned the TV off, but no, it was still on, just black screen. The Samsung player was still on but did not respond to the remote control to play or jump forward. I pressed the stop button and it stopped, pressed play but still no video showed up on the TV screen (I am connected via component video). No response from the player. So I pressed power off on the remote and it powered off. I powered it back on via the remote and the disc started loading and playing again. So I don't know if the Samsung goes into a sleep mode after a certain time of inactivity and then can't be awakened again or it just had a logic twist up and hung up.
Also, I noticed that on the Samsung remote control or front panel there is no button for "angle change". So what is one supposed to do when the movie shows that "angle" icon that pops up? I did not try hitting the "info" button on the remote which might give an angle selection menu.
That's all for now. I hope the firmware update that is supposedly coming out next month will fix the audio glitches when playing these discs also. I mean I can put up with the slight audio glitch each time it changes chapters or an angle icon pops up, when watching movies, but when I begin listening to Music audiophile discs, where the focus is on the sound and music performance, I would no tolerate constant let alone intermittent or occasional tempermental audio drop outs even for a split millisecond.! Samsung please fix this!
