Well, I know about "ants" and "teeth", but what is this? I have a series of horizontal lines across the screen for about 2/3rd of the horizontal space. Then I have short vertical lines across the bottom.
If I power cycle, it goes away. But then a couple of power cycles later it is back. It is there in the back-ground screen, the menu screen, and movie play. I've never seen my projector do this (Optoma HD80), so I suspect the 5000.
I have the November firmware, and the November build-date. I've played numerous movies, and this only started happening recently. This appears when using the HDMI connection to the projector.
The horizontal lines are continuous (the missing spaces is just from downsampling the photo). And there is indeed a purple "Samsung" and "HD DVD" ghosted from the white letters
Edit: after upgrading the HD80 to version "C.05" firmware (Oct 12), the problem went away. If you don't see a firmware version on the HD80's setup menu, then you have the old firmware and need to update. Note that brand new HD80's are shipping with the old firmware. Thanks to robbroy for the pointer to the 5000/HD80 thread: Samsung 5000 purple video with HD80
