Need some technical info/advice as soon as possible please. 60A3000 / 24p / 120hz / HDMI

Ok, today I went by Best Buy to look as some speakers that I'm desperately in need of and noticed a blu-ray player for $299.99.

My first thought was OMG!!!! So the speakers went out the window right then and there and then I found out that the player also come with 2 movies and 5 more with the rebate for free. Wow what a deal!!

Now here is my question, do I need a 120hz HDMI cable to get 1080p/24p/120hz. Or can I get the same results from a regular HDMI cable? The guy at Best Buy was telling me I had to have the 120hz HDMI cable if I wanted 1080p/24p/120hz because the TV will only display what it's feed. It sounds about right but is this true? The only ones they had were monster cables and were $120 and I'm not going to pay that for a cable.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Buy the cheap one. If you don't like it you can always return it.

But is it true that I can't really get 24p/120hz without a 120hz cable?

The cable transmits at 24Hz, not 120Hz.

I don't get it then, the more expensive cables all say 120hz on them.

Trust me, a $6 cable from www.monoprice.com will work just as well as the Monster one.

Save your money on HDMI cables. For short runs, pretty much any cable will do.

there is a difference in price and in what the schmucks at best try want you to believe. But overall no. And as is stated before the cable isn't transmiting a 120hz signal it's transmitting a 24hz signal the TV is operating at 120hz which will be a multiple of 24hz.

also keep in mind a BD player for $299 isn't a rediculous once in a lifetime price. it's a pretty regular price seen often on amazon. so if you really need the speakers first you're not giving up anything by purchasing the speakers first.
