Onkyo 605 blew up on me

Well I just bought an Onkyo 605 refurbished. It arrived today and I unpacked and just plugged the receiver into the wall.

Imagine my surprise when within 10 seconds, the thing starts smoking. Obviously I am not happy. How good is Onkyo with RMAs?

I was all ready to use my new system and poof. I was on the phone for 3 hours trying to reach Onkyo customer service and got no one today too. How good is their customer service department?

I feel almost like I might have gotten screwed over by buying Onkyo refurbished. I basically made the splurge on the 605 on their site after reading how good their products were.

I hope this is just a fluke occurrence with them. Anyways, if anyone can comment on their RMA process or customer service I'd appreciate it.

I've bought refurbished many times from them and accessories4less. Only had one problem with a receiver and it was taken care of promptly. I've also had one problem buying new from another vendor imo the fact it's a refurb doesn't have anything to do with it, just a fact of life sometimes.

I know it's a pita but you don't have anything to worry about, they'll take care of it. Try calling in the mornings if you can, before it gets busy, I find that's the best time to contact them. You might try emailing also since it's the weekend, not sure if they are open tomorrow or not.
