Anyone ever have the LFE channel stop working?

hey guys,

My LFE channel has stopped working on my pioneer 1014 receiver. I thought things have sounded off the past few weeks. So today I finally got around to running a few tests with video essentials and avia. Sure enough, NO LFE. The subwoofer works, everything below the crossover is getting sent to the sub. When the test got to the LFE channel, dead silence. Thought it might be the DVD player so I tried another, same thing. I'm using the optical connection.

Any suggestions? fix it or replace it I guess.

Anyone ever hear of this happening?

Thanks,

Jason

I would try some further testing of the subwoofer and receiver. You've tested the subwoofer on another receiver and it works? Just because the sub turns on doesn't mean it's functional. I'd also try connecting another sub you know works to the receiver.

Perhaps also try sending test tones to the sub via the receiver's setup menu and see if that does anything.

the sub works with the internal tones. it also works with DVE frequency sweeps on every channel but the sub channel.

Perhaps something's not right with the receiver's DSP or in the DVD player somewhere. If your receiver's got a 'straight' mode try using it when playing the DVE test tones.

I tried 2 other dvd players,no dice.both optical and coax.

I tried every dsp and direct too, still no LFE.

Looks like it's the receiver then. Have you had any luck searching for this problem on these forums and the Internet at large to see if others had similar experiences to yours and what they did to fix it?

Try resetting your Pioneer.

Hold the ENTER + VIDEO2 keys for 2 seconds on the front panel. Should reset your system. You may have to redo all your settings afterwards

The knowledge of the reset is valuable. It happened to a friend of mine 2 years ago. Saw a thread with the reset and told him about it. Instant fix.

You might want to write that down for future use.
