New AE2000 Rebate and offers.

Thread Starter
I just received an email from one of the fourm sponsors Visual Apex offering a new $300 rebate, A free lamp, $50 off, a 1 year extended warranty, free 2 year lamp replacement, free dust cover & mount and free shipping.

They have the information on the email but not on the page when you go to it.

I guess this is new and I would suspect that other fourm sponsors will have a similar offer.
Picture from email below.

I hope this post does not violate the rules since it seems that this is an offer from a fourm sponsor and is allowed by Panasonic.

I got the same e mail too, try to call them to find out more. They never got back to me.

Wow, this is going to make things interesting! Let us know what you find out.

Could part of this be due to the recently released Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 UB? Sounds like the Epson is a direct competitor to the Panny 2000.
Let the competition begin.

I only see this promotion on the old Epson as they clear it out in front of the new model introduction. Are you sure you didn't misread the email?

They do have a $50 rebate posted for the Panny if you buy today or tomorrow.

Oops! Just saw you posted a pic of the email. Sure looks like they might have combined the Epson closeout rebate with the Panny rebate in the email. You should order and demand they give you the free lamp and extra $300 on the Panny. That is a tremendous deal on a hot selling current model projector given they are selling it at MAP pricing.

If it's true, then I'm ordering tomorrow!

Looks pretty legit to me.
As I said earlier, with the release of the Epson 1080 which I believe is a direct competetor to the AE-2000, it is only logical prices will fall and incentives will rise.
I was waiting for the end of January to buy the 2000, but this may just hasten my decision.

mighty tempting, wish I knew if quality control issues have been resolved and some concerns about SD DVD pic quality.

We should know tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how the other dealers respons. Seems like a good deal with the extra year waranty, free bulb, and $300 rebate. The final price comes to $2,250. It is getting very close to $2000.

I wonder what PP will do for customers that ordered within 30 days of this announcement. Will they honor it?

Here's what the PP website says about "Price Protection":

Changes in Pricing and Promotions
All items offered on Projector People are sold at the most current prices available. Due to real time inventories and daily changes of costs and programs offered by manufacturers, prices and promotions will and do change frequently. Projector People is unable to provide any price protection; therefore we will not refund any price difference on your current or previous orders, and we cannot honor a promotion on a purchase made before the promotion start date. (Nor, will we bill you for any difference when a product price increases.) We sincerely appreciate your business and feel confident that our expertise, pricing and availability will exceed your expectations.

And here's what VisualApex's says:

"Price Protection
Sudden price drops are unforeseen and, in most cases, manufacturer driven. Due to this fact, we are unable to extend price protection to the products we sell. We hope that you feel secure in the knowledge that on the day you purchased your products from Visual Apex, you paid a competitive price from an authorized, five-star dealer who will stand by you and the products we sell." http://www.visualapex.com/support/#PriceProtection

Best is to call them call and check.

do you have a link to the rebate? do you think it applies to anyone, not just folks on their mailing list?
Sounds too good to be true!

If true, Im jumping on it ASAP!
I think the above posters have it right when they say it looks like a combination of the Epson 1080 rebate along with the Panasonic.

But, if it's true, I'd go for it.

I got the same email also. The extra lamp makes it REALLY interesting!

I called them today, the lady on the phone knew nothing about it. She did find the e mail. She told me when you order it, to put everything you get in the comment box.

According to the website, the PT-AE2000U is out of stock.

Should I call?

Hey folks -

Just to let you know, this was the result of a miscommunication that sent out a non-finalized offer email with incorrect information. As of right now, the only offer on the PT-AE2000U is the warranty extension rebate from Panasonic.

We are currently working on a solution beneficial to everyone that placed an order this past weekend. All new orders placed this morning on qualify for the warranty rebate.

We apologize for this confusion and thank you guys for your understanding.

Talk about false advertising and getting people's expectations up!! There is no explanation for how this bizarre blunder happened, just that it was a "mistake." Hmmm. I was all ready to place an order today...Oh well.
I was placing an order today as well. Now I will wait until January. Anyone else notice that ProjectorPeople are not in the forum sponsor area as of today?

Matt,

When does Panasonic's MAP price come down, or these new rebates come into play?

Good question, but I think it is selling very well. Not sure why Panasonic would want to reduce the price so quickly? Also, I would rather have the free 2nd year warranty than $300 in savings because 1 warranty hit in year 2 will cost you a lot more than the $300. Now if they gave both, then that would be great for everybody!
Ya I called, she said they would aslo honor the free mount.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on Panasonic MAP pricing or rebate offers. Those are decisions strictly made by Panasonic and we will often not find out about changes until they occur.

As for a $300 rebate from Panasonic, this does not exist. This was information on another company's offer that was mistakenly added to the AE2000U in the email sent out. The only rebate currently offered on the AE2000U is the warranty extension.

The rebate on the AE1000 last year was introduced in January, as I recall. I would expect similar timing this year for the AE2000, though who knows. The question is probably not whether Panasonic introduces a rebate but when--unless, of course, they entirely abandon the rebate strategy for their projectors, which they have followed for at least 3 years now.
Just placed an order this morning due to the mailer...I guess I will be cancelling that today.
Hearing this was a bummer. I can understand mistakes.

If it hadn't of been a mistake, I would have placed an order today as well!

On the positive side, looks like it gives us folks sitting on the sideline the opportunity to see how the new Epson 1080ub plays out from a price-performance perspective!

And, if what Pedro says is correct, we should see some additional discounting in January on AE2000!
Life is too short to wait. Just buy the machine today and enjoy it. There will always be something better and cheaper once you finally decide to make the purchase.
Interesting. Shows that $300 and a free lamp is enough to push a fair amount of people into a purchase anyways.

Maybe Panny should just go a head and do it?

Probably not, I am hearing from a few installer friends of mine that this projector is way hot right now, selling very strong at it's current price point.
