Setting Pioneer remote for Sony TV help needed

Anyone with a Pioneer DVD recorder can help me with this question:

How does one set the "TV control" area of the remote for a Sony TV?

It is in the manual, but all my manuals are in another state right now and the .pdf manuals I had for my 520H and 640Hs got lost when my computer HD failed last month.

Yes, I could go to Pioneer's web site and locate either user guide, but my internet connection is sooooo slow (under 30Kbps dial-up) I often have to make multiple attempts downloading something before I actually get it.

I have a Pioneer 531H (best thing I've ever bought at WalMart) and a several-year-old Sony Trinitron with a 14" screen. The code I used, from the Pioneer instruction book, is "04" (zero-four). I pretty much only use the Pioneer remote to turn on/off the TV, increase/decrease the sound, and change what input the TV sees (the Pioneer or the Comcast DVR), but I bet that's all you want to do, too

Thanks for the code, Debby. Could you also tell me the steps? I know certain buttons have to be pushed, but not which ones or what sequence before entering the code.

I mostly use it for the input and volume. For actually turning on/off the TV, I use my satellite receiver remote (which, conveniently is a Sony so the TV button on it was already preset).

Here's the text from a Pioneer .pdf manual...

1 Press and hold down the CLEAR button, then
enter the maker code for your TV.
The LED indicator on the remote controls lights.
See the table below for the list of maker codes. If there is
more than one code given for your make, input the first
one in the list.
If the maker's name of your TV doesn't appear in the
table below, you will not be able to use this remote to
control your TV.
2 Press TV to check that the remote works with
your TV.
If the remote is set up correctly, the TV should switch on/
off. If it doesn't and there is another code given for your
maker, repeat step 1 with a new code.

Nocturnal: Thank you! The, "TV Control," part of my Pioner remote is working now.

BTW, instead of testing via an on/off of the power button, I always just try increasing/decreasing the volume.

Thank you, too, Nocturnal. I hadn't checked back on this thread til today and I'm at work, without the book. I also like to use the little button below the orange "turn TV on" button, the little button that tells the TV what signal source to look at. I've discovered the same feature on my Comcast DVR (Scientific Atlantic 8000, I think), but it takes a few more exhausting thumb moves to activate Ah, so lazy I am! Remember the days when VCRs had "remotes" which were actually control devices on long wires? I got my first VCR in 1979, an RCA that cost about $1,200 and weighed a hulking 25 pounds...! but it sure was cool ! back to work now...!
