Finally Sony justifies putting an expensive Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 for gamers

Finally for the gamers who bought a PS3 and have no interest in Blu-Ray movies Sony is justifying that expensive Blu-Ray drive. And they're not even doing it with a game but a movie, or rather two movies . Ladies and gentleman I give you Resident Evil Degeneration and FFVII Advent Children Complete. The former being an all new all CG Resident Evil movie taking place 7 years after Racoon City starring Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, and the best part is they actually fit into the game's storyline unlike Paul Anderson's monstrosities.

The latter is of course Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, only now it's on Blu-Ray in glorious 1080p and looks to feature new parts that were not in the DVD release. We might just get some other goodies as well.

Anyway without further ado I give you Resident Evil Degeneration:

And Final Fantasy VII AC Complete:

Disclaimer: In no way is this thread meant to suggest Blu-Ray was not a useful addition to the PS3 or that there is an abundence of people on this forum who don't use their PS3s to play Blu-Ray movies. The title is simply meant to be a humorous little take on the multitude of people outside AVS crying about how the Blu-Ray drive holds no significant benefit for games over DVD-9 and they have no interest in Blu-Ray movies. That being said enjoy and get pumped, I know I am .

If all there is for Degeneration is a crappy quality trailer, I imagine it'll be a long, long time until it even hits BD.

Final Fantasy would be soon good eye candy in hi-def. Is there a firmer date then just "2008" at the end of the AC trailer?

I heard something about a spring release. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. I watched FFVII AC upconverted and in widescreen (as it's meant to be viewed) the night before last for the first time and my jaw dropped. I remembered it looking good but I was really blown away. I can't wait to see how it looks on Blu-Ray.

I didn't think the Degeneration trailer was that bad quality. I'll admit it will probably be awhile before it comes out but it's gonna be nice finally getting a proper RE movie. I'm hoping it bridges the gap between RE4 and RE5 as well as maybe explaining

Re-read my disclaimer dude at the end of the OP. The Blu-Ray justification thing was a joke.

Edit: O just for the record I should probably add that FFVII:AC was a very popular movie in the gaming community, something one would think people in the "Home Theater Gaming" forums would enjoy. Also it's pretty neat you've seen RE: Degeneration so you know it's a stinker, could you do me a favor and explain the plot to me so I can avoid wasting my time with this pile of crap. While you're at it how about using this amazing gift of foresight to tell me who's gonna win the 2008 election.

Probably because these movies are game related. Think about it. Around 4 million DVD+UMD's of FFVII: AC have been sold. Sounds like a great Blu-ray release to me. This is bkchurch opinion and he is entitled to be excited for these releases just as I am. Go thread crap somewhere else. Every post of yours I see is nothing but negative. I understand everyone's opinion aren't always positive but yours always seem to be negative. By the way did you completely miss the "Disclaimer"?

EDIT: The above comment threw me off from my original post. Thanks for the heads up bkchurch. The FFVII:AC trailer gave me goose bumps. I look forward to this movies release on Blu-ray. I agree with you on the DVD looking awesome upscaled. I can't imagine what it is going to look like on Blu-ray!

Actually Final Fantasy is one of the movies that makes me want a BD player. Seeing that it's coming out soon seals the deal for me.
