I finally got a chance today to try out my FPJ1. This is my first projector ever and let me say WOW!! Everything I have been hearing and reading about is true. I dont have a screen yet so I just tested it out on my white (off white) wall. The image looked great! I just took it out the box and hooked it up. Havent got to get it calibrated yet but image already looks great to me! I cant wait to see what it looks like with a Stewart Screen! I only had planned to try it out for 15-20 minutes but once the movie started playing I couldnt turn the projector off! This PJ makes me never want to watch another movie on my Plasma! Definitely worth then money and especially worth the price for the blow out sale!
Im hoping to get it mounted by the end of the month. I have some questions if some of you can help me out.
1. Should I just do the DVE Calibration or should I have Firedog,Geek Squad or ISF calibration? What would you guys recommend for this PJ?
2. I am planning to get a Stewart Screen. This PJ has low lumens so what do you guys think of 110 inch Ultramatte200 2.0 gain for my room? My room is 11x14.
I got test samples from stewart and tried to compare them side by side but it was hard to tell. the ultramatte 150 and 200 didnt seem to big of a difference.Im sure its because its just a sample. But let me know what you guys recommend.
3. Will painting the wall behind the screen black give me a better image or building a false wall covered in black GOM?
Hope some of you can help me out. Like I said this is my first PJ so Im new to all this.
Thanks Neal Schneider and Radchad3 for all your help.
Here are some still shots I took on my cheap $130 Kodak cam. Picture looks way better in person of course. And Im sure it will look way better once I get the right screen.
