Best 1080p DLP projector for less than $3,000 (street price)

I've read plenty of reviews on LCD and Lcos projectors, but the only DLP projector I've really come across for under 3k is the Optoma HD80.

Is it still the best 1080p projector for less than 3k, or have better been released since the Optoma?

And I don't mean, have better been released for the same price as the Optoma HD80. I mean, is there a better DLP projector for 3k (or less) than low 2k price ranged Optoma HD80?

Thanks a lot. Time is of the essence for me, but.... no rush

PS. sorry to post three topics all in succession tonight; it's just I'm trying to sort out what to buy once and for all and they're all questions I need answered.

The Mitsubishi HC4900 is below the $3K street price and was given the Editor's Choice Award from Projector Central.

it's also the biggest piece of crap in the world, i'm on my second one, it's voltage regulation is set way to low, and sometimes it won't lite the lamp. a black and white grandma tv is better than the mits, at least you can see some picture on a black and white.

the op was asking about DLP, not LCD PJs

The BenQ 9000 is streeting for under 3k and even the 10000 can be had for right around 3k.

How long until this is released?

Mid to late January. People in Europe already have them.

And it will be < $3,000? (the benQ 5000 that is)

You can do a search on the net. Eventhough it is not released in NA until mid Jan, a couple of the Canadian dealers are already listing w5000.

how 'bout Epson's new 1080p projector that suppose to come out in Jan too??

I'm also in the market of a 1080p project for <$3000. and is thinking 'bout the new Epson 1080p unit.

quick question for you guys, my HT room is kinda small, 11'x15' with the project probably mount 'bout 10-12' from the screen (also thinking about a 82-92" screen). will a LCD unit (like Epson) be better for me or a DLP (heard they are more limited on mounting choose?)??
