The Gov and G70

I stopped by Monday at JAX to take a look at the G70 that is up for sale. It looks to be a brand new unit. I couldn't check the hours, but the tubes look to be perfect.

While I was there, I spoke with the manager of this location for everyones favorite gov. I don't know why no one has ever done this, but I gave him some info on pjs. He seemed really interested and was going to check out Curt's site to learn more. I told him that they need to remove the lenses for tube condition and to turn them on to verify that they work. He said they will attempt to do this in the future. Hopefully from this point forward, the condition of pjs from at least JAX will be better known.

i'm sure he will do this right after Monkey's fly out his but It's too obvious that the guv liq has no intertest in what they sell or even how much it sells for. I still remember one member who bought a pile of 1272's only to find empty shells with no tubes. The fact that the lenses were stuffed back into the case shows a deliberate attempt at Fraud.
If the location so close to you then that's the only way I would ever recomend bidding on their auctions. Needless to say, you should grab that G70.

I think "fraud" is too strong a word by half... removing (or smashing) the tubes is how PJs get "demilitarized."

Remember those G90s in Colorado? Smashed tubes and glycol all over everything IIRC.

That would be me. I thought for SURE I would get a least 1 green and 1 blue tube worth keeping. But NO!!!!! No tubes for you!! DAM I was excited when I won. I was really pissed when I got them home and "lost".

And, I am pretty sure someone knew what they were doing as the HV leads were cut, but like you said, "the lenses were nicely put back on".

Buyer beware.... Look before you leap..

removing the tubes, fine. Putting the lenses back in exactly like they would sit if they were bolted to actual tubes = fraud .

Alternately, it could simply be that the average LIQ worker is too lazy to seperately (and properly) package the lenses.

Never attribute to malice that which may adequately be explianed by ignorance (or sloth.)

Anyone here pick up this PJ? There is a Marquee 9501 coming up later in Jan. in Rock Island, IL.

drag,
I understand what you are saying and usually agree about the gov. In this case, it looks like JAX has taken my advice so far. I see their latest listings have pics with the pjs on. Of course, they are all digitals.

No, I didn't buy the G70. It went for close to $1800 with fees. I like CRT, but that is to much even if it was a brand new 8" LC pj. It looks like we are getting to the point where good digitals are becoming cheaper than CRTs.
