Krell EVO 505

Do you intend to use the CAST technology along with matched EVO gear for amp/pre/pro?

If not, I really liked the Esoteric X-01 in that price range

Have you tried the Krell SACD Standard? Its more in line with the KAV-400xi, and nicer for your wallet at 4000$. The Esoteric plays SACD, but both it and the Krell EVO are a full step higher than the Krell Integrated.

What are your goals? Just scoping out the joint? There are many nicely built units from 800-10k$, depending on features, build quality, and support, that will land you at a price range that you can justify. You should listen to as many as possible and determine which player(s) satisfy your needs and wants.

Do you know if a 505 set at 220V/50Hz can be converted to 120V/60Hz only by using a toggle, an internal jumper, a rewiring and soldering? Or do they use completely different power supplies for the 2 voltages?

The 400xi is an incredible power amp. I have owned a KAV-300r, 300iL and a 400xi and they are tremendously clean and powerful amplifiers! Maybe CAST would be best but I would not worry too much about it! You have a kick A#$ system!
