To me it just depends on what your budget is. You're gonna get so many opinions on what is good, and that all depends on what that person owns. Just gonna have to do research and see what you like.
My last equipment purchase....
My stupidity made me think that my new receiver, RXV-1800, would light up with DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD when I played HDDVD's. Problem is you have to have a player that bitstreams the signal to the receiver for it to decode and I didn't have that. Now I'm waiting for the next gen of bluray players, hoping the price will come down, before I purchase one. I've got a xbox360 with the hddvd add on and an
A3 player. I would have went out and bought a PS3 but it won't bitstream either and you can't control it with your univerasl remote because it's bluetooth.
My point is I ran out and thought I needed a new receiver and I didn't do enough research. My old one would have been just fine with the equipment I had until I got the right player. I'm hoping the price will come down on the panny bd30k when the 50k comes out.
I've got the
Studio series speakers with the 890's for fronts. They are fine and sound great, but the rears are a lot bigger than I thought they would be. I didn't realize how large they would be hanging on my walls.
You can always look at sound treatments on the walls as well to help with the first reflection points if you want to make improvements to the room. They can be decorative so they don't stand out so much. Will it help? I'm no sound expert and I couldn't tell you if the ones I put up have helped.
Hope my exeriences and mistakes help.
