Which would you buy? The first one has more than twice the protection for a third of the price, right? Am I missing something here?

All Joules are not created equal. One product may add all legs of protection to give you a total rating versus the other product which may provide you with the protection per leg. Additionally, the let through voltage and clamping characteristics of the internal suppression networks are important. and yet they are left out of the product information....is it because the product fares poorly in standard tests??. Many of the threads deal with these issues and misinformation here...you may want to do a search.

go with apc or furman you get just what you pay for.

You really do only get what you pay for. A very good power center is going to cost you 350.00 to 500.00. For what you have invested in TV, Receiver, HD & Blu ray players, Sub Woofer, it really is one of the better investments.
