24"+ LCD Computer Monitor - HDCP

Hey all,

I am stuck having all my stuff in my bedroom and looking for a single monitor to do it all. I am having a hard time understanding what is best. It looks like some of the newer 24" monitors like the Gateway have HDMI and component video inputs. Does this mean that I'll be able to get 1080p on the monitor? This confuses me becasue the DVI input says HDCP compliant, but what about the other inputs??

Here is what I want to hook up. If you have other tv / size suggestions please let me know. I can spend up to $1200 for a monitor / tv. Thanks!

Computer
Xbox 360
PS3
Comcast HD Digital Cable

I doubt you will find a 24" computer monitor with enough inputs for all the things you want to attach. I believe you will be better off with a TV. Your budget is sufficient for a nice 1080p TV, all the way up to ~40"-42". But depending on how far you plan on sitting from it when using it as a computer monitor, you might be happier with a smaller size. Sharp makes a really nice 32" TV that is 1080p and specially tuned for gaming. That might be a good choice.

That's a great price for a HDMI switcher. Thanks! That way I can get away with the single HDMI input on the monitors.

Bsteeley - Yea, that is a great suggestion. I really like the 32" Sharp Aquos, that tv is amazing for gaming. Would my computer be useable with that tv or would it look horrible like most tvs that you hook a computer up to? I won't be playing any MMORPGs or anything on it, but still need readable text for web browsing and such.

Thanks for the replies~

Are there any 1080p TVs smaller than 32", and closer in price to 24" monitors?

Thinking of going with the Sharp Aquos 32" Gaming LCD now. Looks like it has everything I need for inputs for PC and Gaming and Cable. Insanely nice tv, contrast ratio, quality, etc.

Here is a link. Worst case if it doesnt look great for computer I'll get a small 19" or 22" for my PC.

FWIW, I just ordered a 28" Hanns-G 1920x1200 LCD at a very attractive price from the Egg, there is even a code for free shipping.
