I was so
impressed by Samsung Customer Support!
I talked to three different people (one because of an incorrect transfer), and had to retell each of them my phone number, name, unit, problem, etc. Then the two that did "help" me said I needed to download the latest firmware update. I asked if it had been posted today, since I just checked and there wasn't one. They both said yes, there is an update. When I called up the "System Update" screen (for each rep), it said that I have the latest firmware available. I don't think the first rep ever really understood me and/or my problem, that is why she transferred me. The last one finally had me repeat my model number, and then I think the light finally came on. "Oh, that's our most recent unit. We are still working on the firmware update. We'll email you when it is available. It is a brand new product that plays both blu-ray and hd-dvd, unlike our other players...." I made a comment about not wanting to wait beyond the return window for a firmware update that may or may not correct the problem. He tried to convince me it would. Based on the way he said everything, it seemed like a generic "we're working on an update" answer without any actual knowledge that they are really going to fix the problem, i.e. there is nothing else he can do. Hopefully my impression was wrong.
