Someone needs to get out of the house

Only thing I am worried about is botched moves...standard definition can hide some of that, but with an HD broadcast, will viewers be more likely to tell when something gets screwed up? And, honestly, do I really need to see Gene Snitsky's back zits in 1080p? Overall the picture will look amazing...but, in the back of mind, I recognize that might not always be a good thing...

New information on the sets...

WWE.com has posted an interview with WWE’s 12-year veteran set engineer Jason Robinson about the new HD set that will make its debut tonight. Here are some of the highlights:

-- Viewers will notice how vibrant the colors are. They are going with a whole new set that is created entirely out of video. People are used to seeing hard sets with things like mirrors and the fist on SmackDown. They have more than 1.2 million LEDs (light-emitting diodes) that are going to be on the set. In HD, the rich colors that these LEDs produce is going to be amazing.

-- The set itself is all video, so they can change it to be anything we want it to be. It will be a set for all of the WWE brands (Raw, SmackDown, and ECW).

-- When The Undertaker comes out, the HD set will be gravestones and lightning bolts. When Kane comes out, it will be all fire and flame. It’s a complete freedom of palette to create anything we want for the Superstars.

-- For fans in the arena, the set won’t be a stagnant one that just sits there all night. The fans are going to feel more a part of the wrestler’s persona and who they are. They will see and feel the change when different Superstars come out.

-- WWE has been talking about a new set for a couple of years. Once they had a definitive idea of what we wanted to do, it took about three months to go from the planning stage to completion. The technology available to their industry " HD, lighting, sound and video " all merged together at the right time for them to put together a great set.

Wow, that's sounds ridiculously cool. There is a previews of the set on WWE.com. But I don't want to ruin the surprise.

I'm still bitter I won't be able to watch Raw, nor ECW on HD. But 1 out of 3 aint bad. In baseball terms, I'd be an All Star!

Does anyone know if WWE Monday Night RAW is being broadcast in HD tonight on the regular USA Station on Charter Cable HD in Burbank, CA?

I know that we dont have the USA HD channel, but I was wondering if it would broadcast that show in HD.

I've called charter a couple of times and they haven't given me any answer. Anytime I call charter, they always seem pissed off that someone is calling.

If anyone has any info about this, let me know.

There is a reason why there are separate standard definition and HD stations.

--There was a meeting a few weeks back with all talent regarding a change of style in television matches starting today due to HD. Because of HD, they were told it was like the fans will be about 3-5 feet away from you. That means no more verbal communications of spots inside the ring, no more spray on tans that can run (Shawn Michaels and Mr. Kennedy were major culprits of this in recent weeks) and the in-ring style needs to be stiffened up. In many ways, this is like the World Class product in the early 80s at the peak of the promotion where the camera men got into the ring itself for the close-ups and they had these great boom mics that picked up everything. As far as visual enjoyment, it made for a better product then.

--Notes on tonight's Raw. The set has a large red protruding oval in front of a larger rectangular silver base. There is a large screen above the walk-out area and two smaller oval screens to the right and left of the ramp. The ramp itself is unchanged, although it looks cleaner than usual. They have been testing pyro on and off all day. In addition to pyro shooting up from the set, there is pyro shooting forward a small distance from the large oval screen. Pyro was tested today for ring entrances for HHH and Chris Jericho. The HHH pyro was gold and shot in a circular pattern. Jericho had his usual pyro in addition to double-shooting pyro from the oval screen. The set is considerably larger. The same set is being used now for all three brands

--For West Coast cable viewers, there is no staggered feed based on what we are being told on the USA HD channel, meaning to watch the HD feed it's at 6 p.m., not 9 p.m.

I really...REALLY wish they simulcasted it on Universal HD because TWC won't give us USAHD yet we have Universal HD.

I know I said that already but I'm emphasizing it. I don't see why they (meaning NBC) wouldn't want a ratings juggernaut on Universal HD, or why WWE would block even more HD exposure for WWE.

I hope someone here can be awesome enough to post some screencaps like those found in many of the weekend NFL threads so that those of us without USAHD can get a taste.

Mediacom FTL.

LOL!! Me neither.

So far, the PQ is ok..... some pixelation and breakups via D*. I think it's the source and not D*'s fault(only a guess though).

The new set kicks arse!!

Yeah, that was not a good look for the first ever HD moments on Raw
Lot's of macroblaocking there
The WWE logo is almost in the middle of the screen and it won't be long before that WWE HD logo starts to get on my nerves
The PQ is looking better now, hopefully they will iron out all the kinks soon
The new set (and the new ring aprons) look awesome, though!

You must not watch any football on NBC then. While this is far from perfect at the moment, it's still far better than most NBC sports broadcasts.

WWE has their work cut out for them due to the lighting and fast movement.
