If there are no full resolution stills posted so I can see how horrifying Shawn Michaels looks in HD, then I will be sad.

According to a few reader reports, Comcast Cable will not be carrying the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in High Definition. A representative said that the company is capable of showing pay-per-view events in HD on their InDemand 2 channel, but they have not received any details from World Wrestling Entertainment. We will keep you updated if this changes.

Never listen to cable reps....

That would be only if your Cable system has an HD PPV channel

New sets coming for the WWE debut in HD.

World Wrestling Entertainment® fans will soon be getting their weekly doses of high-energy entertainment delivered in stunning high definition. Beginning the week of January 21, WWE’s Monday Night RAW® and A.M. RAW on USA, ECW®: Extreme Championship Wrestling™ on SCI FI Channel, and Friday Night SmackDown® on The CW will all be delivered in HD.
WWE will also broadcast its pay-per-views in HD, starting with Royal Rumble on January 27.

“The move to high-definition programming is another step in WWE’s ongoing mission to provide fans with the most engaging, exciting product possible, and our programs look spectacular in HD,” said Mike Grossman, Senior Vice President, Television Operations. “This upgrade will be the first of many technological advances for our brand in 2008.”

WWE’s switch to high-def was made possible by a series of upgrades to the company’s television studios in Stamford, Conn. The $20 million HD renovations included refitting of equipment to broadcast WWE programming and global pay-per-view programming in high definition on cable and satellite systems around the world. The WWE also worked with NEP Supershooters to build two new state-of-the-art production trucks, and will lease a custom transmission truck designed for HD transmission.

WWE built new sets for RAW and SmackDown for their HD debuts.

Anyone know if Cablevision plans to add USAHD or SCIFIHD to their line-up or if the Royal Rumble will be available on the CB HDPPV channel?

Thanks,
Joe

- One reader sent word that Comcast cable is not planning on carrying the High Definition broadcast of WWE Royal Rumble. A manager for the company said that they have the capability of showing HD feed on InDemand 2, but have not yet received information from WWE about Royal Rumble being broadcast in HD.

Hopefully this is not true.

It appears Mediacom at least will be on the HD bandwagon for the Rumble. My DVR box has the event listed on the lone HDPPV channel for that night with no replays, though it is listing it at the regular PPV price rather than the $10 higher premium that the HD feed is going for.

Yeah, i've been waiting for this for a while. I'm already pretty frustrated with the lack of HD content from Comcast. I think i'm just about ready to make the jump to Directv. Just a better product it seems.
Any idea after the PPV is over, if Comcast will add the Royal Rumble in the "Events" tab in the HD section on ONDemand?

Channel 98 IIRC is an MPEG-4 channel.

I wonder if the WWE as any plans to release on Blu-ray and HD DVD anytime soon? Because I'd like to get Wrestlemania 24 on a high def disc.

WWE is on board with Blu-Ray, and the Royal Rumble will be the first Blu-Ray release
