Or can I play .mov files on my ps3? They are compressed as h.264 files from my 720p camcorder?? I have quicktime Pro and can easily convert the file from .mov to bascially anyformat but I wanted to play it in its native form.

Yes you have to convert (amazingly enough, since .mp4 is basically .mov with a bunch more features added, so .mov support would've been trivial to do once mp4 is supported), but you don't have to re-encode, just repack into mp4 container. Here is a little guide I've made for someone in the Blu-ray forum:

Great, thanks for the quick help!!

Did you get the Aiptek 720p camcorder? I have been converting my .mov files to DIVX (Smaller file size, easer to play the file on a slower computer) to play on my PS3. Great little cam $120. Have fun with it.

whats the easiest way to convert video_ts files to play on the PS3?
I believe you are going to be forced to burn the video_ts files into the DVD format they whey intended for. Maybe someone knows of a DVD emulation program ?

I converted a bunch of HD Quicktime trailers to mp4 using Yamb, unfortunately, my PS3 won't recognize the files (ie. they don't show up when I'm looking through my folders via Windows Media Player 11 media sharing). Any suggestions?

Do a direct connect using a USB thumb drive or CD. Let us know if you can read them then. If they work then this means it is a limitation of Windows media sharing (WMS). Does it read other MPEG 4 files shared through WMS?

I transferred the trailers on to a USB thumb and they appeared to the PS3 and I was able to play them. Unfortunately, I got no sound like some of the WMV files that I played.

Thats cool for DVDs but what if I want just the file? I cannot seem to find a good program to do so....

If you package repackage the dvd video from the video_ts format into an .mpg file you can play it back natively on the PS3 without burning it. But if it's over 4GB then you have to split it or see if you can get it to stream.

What is the type of file that your camera records to? You'll need a program that converts the files to .mp4

Although some people dont like QT Pro, I enjoy it because it works so well with my other Mac programs to export....For a PC im sure it will work fine.

OH BTW, this little video camera I bought in December records at 720p 30fps.

For the same price the same company just put out a 1080p camcorder and 720p at 60fps.

What a jip, they should of at least announced it before hand I would of waited a few months....jeez
