One my stern recommendation my neighbor bought a Pio 50" 5080 (his first flat panel anything) and it looks fantastic on his wall. it's a hot rod TV!
Yeah, those Pioneer Kuro's are the best. But still, there are many folks out there (meaning around the US and NOT on AVS Forum) that still like Tubes.
For instance, take my 83 year old Dad. He's never watched a TV over a 27" 4:3 TV, and just had one go out on him a few weeks ago. He lives in the Nashville area, so I've been on the lookout for him a Sony CRT 36"er. That's all he wants, and the size difference will be more than enough to satisfy him. also, he's aware of the analog cutoff date approaching but was misinformed that he now must have HD. I've explained it all to him carefully, and he understands most of it.
I'll keep looking around on Craigs List for him, and hopefully something will pop up within a month or so. His viewing habits lean towards the 4:3 side, so that's why I think the 36"er would be best. Anybody in the Nashville area need to get rid of a good working Sony 36"er w/stand, please let me know.
