Die Piraten Screenshots

It's been almost a year since I last posted a Screenie here, eek.gif

I still have the same ol' reliable 4 y/o Epson Home Cinema 1080UB
...with well over 6000 hours and still not feeling the need for an upgrade.
I finally bought my first new lamp for $275 instead biggrin.gif

Here's a few new screenies from Madagascar-3 and Prometheus

that looks pretty amazing! what screen are you using?
Just a cheap Generic Chinese made screen, RichVision brand on it I think, it's 120" 16:9 matt white 1.3 gain motorized (with IR and RF remotes), Was only $250 new/shipped ! Gotta Love E-bay
I bought it as a temporary screen until I figured out what I really wanted, and it turned out to be a keeper. Still looks pretty good to my eyes, even after 4 years.

I wanted a motorized drop down vs fixed because my multi-media room has a wall mounted Kuro plasma (and some wall mounted guitars) when the PJ isn't on.

All images shot with a Qumi Q5 133 DIY curved screen and a Panamorph UH480.

karkid,

Nice pics. What camera are you using to take the pics?

I have the 100" version of that screen and I am very happy with it after 3 years. I too purchased it just to get by with the intentions of replacing it later on with a high quality name brand screen, but unless the motor quits working, I really can't justify a need to.

We recently watched Madagascar 3 and even my wife who is not very picky about picture quality commented on the brightness of the colors and the sharpness of the details on this movie.
I used to use Kung Fu Panda as my demo disc when "non-projector" people would stop by the house, but I think this will be my new choice for that "knock their socks off" material. wink.gif

Those are my screen shots, karkid was just quoting my post biggrin.gif

Camera is a 5 year old Fuji Finepix S5800 ,

a cheap $150 point and click with a pretty decent feature set.

Oops sorry about that PioManiac.

Thanks for the info, I've been trying with my point & shoot Canon Powershot SD1200, but I'm not having very good results. I think I may have to dig out the manual and play with it's manual settings some.

Any other 5010 owners out there - just received mine and looking to see some others screenshots! I don't have it up yet so show me what I will be seeing.

Figured I would give it a try.

Epson 8350
154" screen
Eco bulb mode

Looks great Allupons! I currently have a viewsonic pro8200 with a 150" 1.1 gain cinewhite elite screen. I'm curious how far back is your PJ? I'm not completely happy with the 8200 and I'm looking at alternatives. How does the PJ handle motion?
Humbly requesting mits HC4ooo shots, (yeah I know there're some, but I would appreciate some dark scenes and rich color scenes as well).
It is a little over 14 feet back with the 2.1x zoomed all the way. I run it in ECO mode to avoid the pretty horrible fan pulsing noise that accompanies high lamp mode, but I think I would prefer the slight added brightness of high lamp, if only for the audible noise. I have had no issues with motion at all personally. My biggest wishlist items for my eventual upgrade down the line is better black levels (although I was surprised that the 8350 is as decent as it is given the price point) and better overall brightness / pop while maintaining a quiet audible noise level.

Amazing....lens shift is a beautiful thing! I'm 19ft of my 20ft room in order to get my 150" I'm gonna go and demo this PJ today. Thanks for the info!

Screenshots of Acer K330 in ECO MODE with screen size 80" 1.1 Gain. Taken with Panasonic Lumix, which is not doing very well in the dark.

Real picture is more detailed and vivid than shown in the photos.
Soon I will have a good camera and make pictures that look like the original wink.gif

I thought I'd compare my new Epson 3020 against dgilliga02's Mits HC3800. Here are two shots posted in July:

Now, here are the same shots taken on my 3020; Cinema, contrast -7, autoiris high. The Sony cyberShot DSC-TX100v 16.2 megapixel camera oversaturated the color so I backed it down -3 . Great example of how bright the 3020 is.
