Need Help Getting Out of the 90s

Thread Starter
Well, I've been using the same 25" zenith tube tv hooked up to a craptastic stereo via rca connections since the early 90s. I got a PS3 last month and decided it may be time to upgrade. I'm not looking for an all out home theater, but something flexible to enchance my primarily gaming and secondary movie/sports watching.

My budget is about $3,000. Looking for a tv in the 42-26 range, 5.1 home theater setup. Not really sure what else I need cause I've been out of it for so long. Was looking at an XBR4-46" ($3,000 including home theater setup at best buy), but then I saw another thread that mentioned some ghosting issues. I'm confused yet again. Also want a nice adjustable wall mount to free up some space.

Part 2:

Currently I have a vcr, cablebox, PS2, Genesis hooked up on one big cabinet. I want to also hook up my SNES and XBOX when I rearrange things, but this is going to cause a mess of wires (pretty bad now). I need some serious organizational help, and am not sure when to start.

Thanks and please excuse my ignorance.

Is $3000 the budget for just the TV, or does that your overall project budget (speakers, receiver, new stand?) If it's the overall budget, you may want to go with a cheaper TV and put more in to the audio. I'm now in to the audio shopping part of my project, and this thread has really helped point me in a good direction. If you're willing to order online, there's some deals to be had. For example, www.monoprice.com is a good place for wall mounts and cables, you'll save a tremendous amount of money compared to what Best Buy will charge you.

Organizing the wires can be done by just being careful with the routing and some use of velcro strips. Just spend an hour or three with it all..
