What's the catch are they for real? Are they good cables?
I used to order my cables from www.ramelectronics.com.

Thats the difference when you go somewhere that charges realistic prices Monoprice isn't really low price, its the B&M that is a rip off making it look so low. There is a HUGE cable markup at B&M places. They make more off cables than anything else.

I would say on the whole, monoprice does have the lowest prices out there. I always buy in bulk and in anticipation for builds for computers/friends/etc. Over the years I realized that I had "moved up a bracket" and was getting this stuff even cheaper. The qty pricing is what really floors me!

I use a different, customized email address for every online vendor that I purchase from. This gives me the the ability to determine whether a particular vendor is distributing my email address to third parties. I have purchased from monoprice several times over the last few years. I have yet to receive a single piece of spam that is related to my purchases from them. The only company that I have had consistent problems with is Broderbund (I registered a copy of Zone Alarm Pro with them).

dont be an idiot and overpay for overhype in terminology..buy monoprice cables..I just got two 1.3HDMI 10' cables for $17 (with delivery cost) and I got it in 2 days..I have turned countless people over to monoprice and each one has been satisfied, they just wish they would have known way before to save money on other cables.
Trust me. monoprice's cables have never given me any issue. You will be very satisfied.... I Have been time and time again

Learned about Monoprice on another thread. I have just ordered once, but was very satisfied. I have not received any spam. I wish I would have known about them before I wired my new system with super expensive cable.

Opticals, HDMI, Splitters, Component, Switches, and Audio Cables here and VERY satisfied with all of them

I've ordered six HDMI cables, and never had a problem.

Just thought I would give my $0.02 since I have received a lot of good information on these forums. After reading various people on the forum recommending Monoprice, I ordered from them and since I am local to them I picked up the cables. The cables (6ft HDMI) work just fine. They have a decent warehouse operation. Will call was quick. I would order from them again.

Regards

The 20 or so various cables I've purchased from them have met/exceeded my expectations.

Monoprice cables are made in China. That might help explain part of the lower cost. They don't engage in high cost marketing like the "premium" brands do and that's a big part of the price difference. I have 3 Monoprice HDMI cables. To me they look exactly like Monster except they have black mesh coverings instead of colored ones. They work exactly the same as all the others - transmitting the digital data with reliability and accuracy.

Ordered banana plugs and optical SPDIF cables from them. Everything has been fabulous and I'll buy from them again

I've ordered cables of all types from Monoprice and I am always impressed with their price and cable quality. For example, an 8' Nextech Ultimate HDMI cable from Circuit City is $74.99 while at Monoprice a HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 10ft (Gold Plated) cable is $16.53!!! And the quality is equal or better! The net jacket is sweet! Another example, a 12' Philips Optical Toslink cable is $19.99 @ Walmart and @ Monoprice a PREMIUM 12FT Optical Toslink Cable w/ Metal Fancy Connector is $8.34!! It's ashame how cables are marked up!

Go Monoprice!!!!

I am not affiliated with Monoprice, Circuit City, or Walmart...I'm just a consumer!
I too am a satisfied with the cables I have recieved from Monoprice. The only thing that bugs me is those darn ferrite cores on the 28AWG HDMI cables.

I've heard good things about them for quite a while. I'm looking to redo my setup in a couple months (HDTV - finally, new DVD player (don't know if it'll be BR, HD, or simply an upconverter) and was looking at monoprice for another cable and figured while i'm at it - i'll get the HDMI's i'll need in a couple months. I still haven't hit $20 shipped This place seems to good to be true.

Add me to the list of happy Monoprice customers. You can't beat the price for HDMI cables.
Happy with them and have bought several things from them. I am even lucky enough to use will-call, since I live 1.5 miles from them . They even took an order of mine on the weekend, when they don't allow will-call.

I just order 2, 6 ft. HDMI 1.3a cables from monoprice.com for a grand total (including shipping and taxes) of 18 bux. Can that be right? 12 feet of cable is equal to about $3 grand in monster cables. I read many posts about monoprice.com before I ordered but had no idea it was that cheap. Are they as good as advertised?

Also, I just order the Sony SFT2000, blu ray home theater reciever/speakers, which is why I needed the extra HDMI cables. I've read on here that Ill need to tweak the sound settings as the auto-calibrate doesnt work too well. What are the best 'settings'? Thanks all

HT SF2000, sorry

Great cables..prompt delivery..more than a reasonable prices...also someone mentioned earlier they are made in China. Well I just looked at a package with a very expensive cable from AR...also made in China...probably the same place..just some fancy throwaway plastic packaging and fancy print...stay with monoprice.com

Just bought another cable from them today (a white 1.3a HDMI cable to match my new AppleTV) for like $5. Don't know how many that makes since I've lost count, but I've bought just about every kind of cable and adapter you can imagine from them. The service is always excellent and the cables work like a charm. Anybody paying more for cables is crazy.
Walk into Radio Shack and look at the male-male DB9 RS232 adapter. Cost=8.89+tax
Goto Monoprice.com. The exact same adapter, $.77

Yes, of course you will have to pay for shipping. But so will you have to pay for gas for the driving distance to/from and the time as well.

'nough said.

I have order mulitiple times from them. HDMI cables, & DVI to HDMI cables. All the cables aI have order seemed extremely high quailty. The last time that I ordered from them they accendently send me a shorter length cable then what I ordered. When I called them up they where apologetic - and with in 10 minutes they had emailed me the tracking number of the correct product that was to ship that day.

I am extremely pleased with the way that had handled this mistake. If i need any more cables in the future, I will definitly purchace them from monoprice.

Can somebody tell me where I can order AV cables?
ohh well , i was sold on the monoprice but this spamming thing has just put me off . i reckon ill stick with ebay now
post #87 of 97
Hahahahahaha!!! (you're kidding right?) eBay is one of the worst when it comes to spamming, IMHO. I have a separate account for my eBay purchases, just so I can change the email every few years, when the spam gets abusively bad.
no disrespect bicker but with over 1000 feedbacks and nearly 1200 transactions from over 5 years membership with ebay , my my spam box gets hit no more than 15 times a month and whats to say those are from ebay .

I would believe that if your dealing with mobile phones or Laptops from ebay you might get some out of that through contact with scammers but i only really deal with RC cars and 1 thing i always do when i reply to anyone from ebay is click the " Hide my Email " when i respond , that is a 100% must for me

You must have a much better spam-checker than I have.

As I indicated, I have a separate email account I only use for eBay. I have a separate email account for monoprice.com as well. It is relatively easy for me to compare the amount of spam I get from one source versus the the other.

One person claims to have gotten spammed from what appears to be BizRate (not Monoprice directly) while many others have stated they've never gotten anything more than the expected order and shipping confirmation.

Sean (from Monoproice) even replied they do not spam, will investigate this issue, and will take the required actions to protect their customers.

If you choose to base your decision based on a single poster and ignore the rest of the thread that is your perogitive. However, it isn't the most informed decision IMHO.

Count me in as one of the many happy customers of Monoprice. Great products. Great pricing. Fast shipping. Not one piece of spam ever received from Monoprice here.
