best lcd 42 inch set...

would love a few opinions on this before going to the store today. trying to spend between 1,000 to 1,500.

I'm looking right now at the toshiba 1080p 167 model, the sharp aquos 720p and 1080p models (would lean towards the 720p out of these two), the lg 1080p, and the sony 1080p v2500. I keep hearing samsung is one of the top brands, but haven't seen any that I thought were better than these.


any insight would be much appreciated.

swet the sony 40S3000 is on my short list. It's either that or the pani 42 75U depending on $$$$ within the next month.

I am enjoying my Samsung LN-T4069F

if you want glossy, get the 4071F.
if you want matte Screen, get the 4069F.
Can get them both cheap at Amazon.

If you don't care about the new features of the 69F and 71F.
then get the Samsung 61F, 66F or 65F.

61F is matte screen and 65F/66F is glossy screen.
At your budget, you can even get a 46" for those 3 models at Amazon!

If the room you are going to put the TV on is bright and well lit, many windows, etc: Suggest the Matte Screen.
if you have light control/dark room, or don't mind the glare: Then Glossy screen can be good for you.
Suggest check a showroom to see if you prefer a Matte (non-glossy) or glossy screen.

From my looking around, I find Samsung and Sony makes the best LCD

thanks for the help, everybody. I ended up going with the toshiba 42hl167. it's 1080p with a contrast ratio around 10,000:1. got it for a great price. looks great so far, but I still need to upgrade to high def cable.
