Question about S-VHS players...

I was looking around for a S-VHS player to hook up to my DVD recorder. I have found the JVC HR-S3800u and HR-S5902u. Which one of these should I get? I have never owned an S-VHS player so will it upgrade the resolution of my older family tapes?

Not unless they were recorded in S-VHS. While I'm sure they are fine VHS players, I would think you would be better getting a good quality VHS/DVDR deck. Also some S-VHS players that I've seen, only output the S-out with S-VHS signal. Regular VHS signal only is outputted through the composite out. You would want to check it out first.

I just found out I can get the 5902 for $10. I am going to snatch that up at that price considering I looked at one on EBAY that went for $100 after shipping.

I hope it works out good for you. JVC is a great name in VCR's.

The 5902 should be a terrific source deck. Lots of settings for quality and dubbing. A FAR better choice than any standard VCR for dubbing to DVDR.
