I'm sure this problem gets addressed repeatedly throughout this thread, but I'll chip-in own experience with a DCX3501-M: When I connect via HDMI directly to TV, the DCX3501 retains its user configuration settings. When I route through my soundbar (a Sony CT150 that I wish to use as a switcher) the stupid DCX3501-M sporadically and unpredictably loses configuration.
Has anybody seen such HDMI flakiness in other products, or is the motorola DVR truly, uhh, special? No device should be able to alter another device's configuration as a result of handshaking, this seems absurd.
