Maybe Microsoft will offer us a big list of things we can choose to make us happy. Here are a few items that I hear are rumored:

A copy of Teenage mutant ninja turtles secret of the ooze with Vanilla Ice
signed copies of Brute Force
Master Chief collectable pogs
Complete set of Series 83 Garbage Pail Kids

We will have to await the final list

Man.. i knew it would be a free arcade game! I don't understand why they just don't give out points and let us PICK what game we want though! they gave out free points for their anniversary to members who were on live since the first year, so it's not impossible, why force a game on us that we may or may not want? Or atleast i hope we have a choice of what game we want, cause what if we already have it?
Hopefully it will be that Omega five shooting game coming out next week. LOL yea right though! It will be something from the vault of unplayed arcade games.

Exactly. It kinda sucks. I want to get Switchball but what if that's it? I doubt it though as it will most likely be a 400 point game that no one has bought.

My wife & I want Pacman CE........talking about an old school game but we tried the demo and LOVE it!!!!!!!!

So if MS makes it availible(for free).........we'll get it!

Was going to buy it yesterday until reading this thread ......Im waiting to see what is given to us 1st!
As much as I'd love to see MS just hand MS points to make up for it it doesn't make much business sense. If they give out some Arcade no one ever buys it doesn't really hurt them, if they hand out points then people are gonna go spend it on games they would have formerly forked over actual currency for.
Just give everyone 800 points and call it a day.

I don't know why anybody doesn't just want a free month or two of XBLIve? I haven't been able to play with any sort of consistency online for almost three weeks now. I would say that's not getting my moneys' worth for the month I paid for... if they simply compensated for that few weeks I was not able to play then I wouldn't be upset.
As it is, I'm on the phone now trying to cancel my subscription since it auto renews next week. I'm not giving another $50 for something I can't use.

And yes, I do have a life and other things to do. And I will move on and stop using XBlive. I'm irritated because I have a small amount of free time and when I do sit down to play a game I'd like it to work instead of fighting with it and wasting time.
It's not that we don't want free months of live, it's mostly due to fact that MOST people don't really pay for live monthly (gold users) usually pay for the full year and thats it, so then a mont or two free of live doesn't really add up to anything 'cept a couple of dollars. An XBLA arcade game is worth 5-10 bucks. We should have a choice though of what we want in return. Hopefully they are taking the time to decide on something to make up for the lost time, cause if it's been all of this wait and they are going to tell us we get root beer taper for our troubles then heads will roll!

Whiskey, if it makes you feel any better, I thought this list was freaking hilarious... You've also dated yourself with Garbage Pail kids.... Guessing you're in your 30's like probably 90 percent of the dorks on this site (present party included)

Still having issues on COD4 as of last night. Game lobby closing and was not able to start any matches. They all ended with "Match starting..." and nothing would happen.

Im going to have to try Halo 3, since I feel like the issue is centered around COD4.

I cant wait for my Yaris 2 keycode...

Wow gamers, as a group, sure are a whiny bunch. I know nothing I say can help the rage and resentment you all feel at the catastrophic XBL outage, so I won't even try. I just hope you can all somehow pick up the pieces of your shattered lives and carry on.
I've been having odd issues with Rock Band this weekend. The game runs fine, but the leaderboard doesn't update for a long time (may be normal, I don't know). More annoying is that anytime I try to look at a gamercard or see what my friends are doing the thing just hangs for a minute or two, I guess while it times out or actually gets the data. I end up with a completely empty blade pulled out with the game running in the background, but I can't do anything until it finally times out. I haven't been playing much else, so I don't know if they've got a problem or if it's the same XBL junk.

Given the way this stuff usually goes for me, I'm sure the free game will be one I just bought in the past few weeks.

Wow....I cant believe how devastated some people are over this.....
$50/365=13.6 cents a day. Multiply that by 14 days..... that equals about $1.92 and thats accounting for total outage when it was in actuality about maybe 50-60% outage since it did work during the daytime mostly. It seem to only go bad at peak times. So...take off that 50% and you get about 96 cents. I think they are being more than generous giving a free arcade game on top of all the free stuff we get already.
They should just give you 96 cents of free live tacked onto the end of the year you paid for.....
Wow, there is such outrage that some people want to be compensated for outages in a paid service. My membership is due to expire in February and I don't think that's right if it's intermittent between December 25 and then. I'm sure the arcade game will be one I have, like Carcassonne, but I wouldn't ask for money or points. Just give me a few weeks for free, or add as many days that the service has been borked onto the end of my account. How is that not fair?

Well I think I calculate it differently. I dont play games 24/7 365. So the week of christmas (when I was off work) was going to be a major gaming week for me.

$50 and 100 days of gaming/yr (yes I have a life) = 50¢ * 14 days = $7. Plus lets not forget the inconvenience of having to try and play online = wasted time. I make $25/hr and spent at least 5 hours of games beign dropped etc. = $125.

Total = $132

now what really pisses me off is this spin:
"Sorry for the trouble, it was all these new users! WE HIT NEW RECORDS! WE ARE #1!"

Notice how they dont even take responsibility for the problem? They blame the new users!

You could've at least spelled the name of the game right if your going to insult a arcade classic. It's spelled Tapper, not Taper. And it was well worth the 400 points.

You certainly have a high opinion of teh value of your free time....
Next time I have to put my car in service Ill have to use that one on them. "Hey,I used my free time to come here and I make 37.50 an hr,so take that off the bill" or when the cable goes out "hey,I spent 4 hrs of my free time staring at snow on the tube and I make 37.50 an hr,so thats $150 you need to take off my bill."...
Your a Democrat,arent you....

Thats right I do highly value my free time. Sorry you don't care if they jack you around. Why in the world would you defend an outage like that? Oh..fanboi.

Nothing worse than a republican fanboi who gets upset when you question the logic of his 96¢ outage.

Id almost bet you defend the RROD too.

EDIT: .96 x 10,000,000 = $9,600,000 BTW

So then why are you complaining LIVE went down over the holidays? So if LIVE went down for 2 weeks, and MS compensates you for that loss with 2 MONTHS of free LIVE, that isn't enough?

Wheres the logic?

Ok, we've all had jabs at each others political parties, can we please not let this turn into a big "Your political stance is stoopid" conversation.

Anyway yea dude your calculation doesn't really make sense. When my internet goes down I occupy my life with something else, I don't bitch to my IP that they've wasted 24 hours of my life and my time is worth $10 an hour so they owe me $240. That makes absolutely no sense. A service you're paying about $4 a month for went down for two weeks, that means you lost $2. If you have nothing better to occupy your free time with than XBL that's not MS's fault.
