I have the Samsung 1400 and the Toshiba A2 and while I prefer HD DVD (lower cost and great performance), I would have to agree that HD DVD, as it stands with this latest news, is in serious peril, as is the HDM industry as a whole with BR at the top of the mountain. With BR's high costs of both hardware and software, and the recalcitrant behavior of BDA and other Blu backers, mass adoption will prove elusive, as HDM will remain a niche market. But, as longs as titles are in abundance in BR form AND
their prices drastically reduced, I'm OK with it being a niche market. On the other hand, don't think for one minute that I'm not hedging my bets either, I'm starting to stand in line now for the new Oppo 983...
BTW, I'm sure glad I didn't plunk down big money on the XA2 a couple of weeks ago! Whew!!
P.S. Did I say I am REALLY loving my Wal-Mart, pre-Black Friday A2!
