Can we now expect decent support from Samsung now with the Warner announcement?

The firmware issues as of late, and the incompatabilities with newer titles and my BDP-1200 have been peeving me off.

The SD DVD skipping issues on discs with multi-angles is a big thorn in my side too.

Can we now expect Samsung to get off their butts and fix the problems since the Blu Ray players they make just became a more permanent item?

Not likely. Blue Ray's monopoly means the BDA has less reason to be supportive, not more.

Explain how the BDA has control over a CEs bad support?
Samsung it the one that has dropped the ball.

I'm betting that Samsung will change their tune on firmware when HDM standalone player sales go from the thousands (niche) to the millions (mainstream). The WB announcement will sway momentum further in BD's favor, but isn't likely to affect HDM market penetration anytime soon.

I hope so, even though they support BD from beginning, they should dump hd dvd

Huh? The company is what the company is. Do you think that the Warner decision will result in millions of Samsung players being sold overnight and that Samsung will suddenly decide to produce more reliable players and firmware? Let's be realistic here. If you're unhappy with Samsung, go to a different company. To wait for a change in their policies or technical expertise, for any reason, is foolish, IMHO.

I agree. Samsung is to blame for not supporting their products. I say switch to a different brand.

I bought one of the first generation Samsung DVD players and it was nothing but heartache. All I got was the runaround from tech support and costumer service. They refused to do anything about it until they settled a class action lawsuit years later, so my guess would be that they won't do anything about their Blu-ray players either.
