If I had known ahead of time that only the 2D version had the extended cut, I would have never purchased WWZ. The 3D disc only has the theatrical version, which sucks when compared to the uncut version.

Really annoyed. I had American Horror Story at top of my queue but they didn't give it to me today. Now it will probably be two months before it comes off Very Long Wait for me. Grrr.

My personal experience has always made me think they just don't buy a huge amount of series sets .. probably because they are not as profitable ..

It's bad enough they don't usually put TV series new releases on their New Releases page. But not ton even stock many copies really sucks...

Well, the good news is, if you're willing to wait, it's likely to show up on streaming .. which is another reason they probably don't buy many copies of the physical disks ..

Season One is on streaming .. I'd suspect Season 2 will be in possibly the near future ..

I'm willing to stream some stuff (like Breaking Bad which I'm watching with the wife, or The Office, or cheesy monster movies with the kids). But for core gripping content, it's BluRay or nothing for me.

Especially for a visually gripping show like AHS, I enjoy framing through some of the tense scenes after I've watched the whole episode. Some of the facial expressions or special effects are really cool, seen frame by frame. Can't do that on streaming!

Is that the reason? I've had the Homeland season 2 disk 1 blu ray at the top of my queue since it came out a little over a month ago and have received 20+ blu ray movies below it in my queue since then on my 3 at a time plan. The only progress I've seen so far is that a couple weeks ago it went from "Very long wait" to "Long wait". To Netflix's credit though this is the longest I've had to wait on a disc in a while and I don't mind being patient as long as it will show up eventually. The only annoying thing is having to constantly move the other disks in the series down in my queue so they don't show up before disk 1.

The worst for me was the UK version of Life on Mars (DVD only). I swear I had that at the top of my queue for more than a year and it never budged from Very long wait. Netflix wouldn't admit it when I eventually got fed up and called their support line about it but I'm convinced they must have had only a handful in circulation and when those got lost/stolen or damaged they wouldn't own up that they simply didn't have it any more. That has to happen sometimes, right? But has anyone ever seen a title removed from their queue because Netflix ran out? Seems like if they were really honest they would do that from time to time or at least come up with another status like "Don't Hold Your Breath" while they ordered (eventually, maybe) new inventory.

As long as the discs are from the same season, they shouldn't show up before the previous disc.

Netflix has always been pretty good about sending TV show discs in order. It's rare they send them out of order.

I rented Life on Mars (UK) from NF years ago... took a long time to get disc 1. No problem getting remaining discs. But, I've had movies go from available to unavailable with some regularity. For example, Wicked (1998, Julia Stiles) has gone from my saved queue, to available Very Long Wait, to Long Wait, and now very interestingly is listed in my active queue at position 5 but shows status "Unavailable." That's odd. Never seen that before.

UFO (old TV sci fi series, girl with purple hair) disc 1 will sometimes become available VLW, but then pop back down to the saved unavailable queue. I understand some titles simply are not possible to buy replacements for, but most titles that I would like are readily available on Amazon. For example, UFO is available new on Amazon for about $50 for the complete set.

It's annoying how they are letting their catalog rot.

Out of curiosity, do you use Netflix streaming now? "Never" is a very over-used term that is usually inaccurate.

Well maybe it doesn't happen very often but it's happened to me before so I'd rather just keep moving the other discs down until disc 1 shows up first. It's only a minor annoyance anyway.

That's interesting. My queue is usually pretty long (200+ titles now plus another 40 or so saved) and I've I've never seen the status on anything changed to Unavailable.

As for Netflix maintaining their catalog, I know it sucks if its a title you want but I also understand supply and demand and I can respect if they don't want to restock a title that they don't think they can move. For me where that comes into play is on older movies that are available on bluray but where Netflix only stocks the DVD. There are a lot of movies like that that are in pretty wide circulation on bluray and since it would be cheap for Netflix to stock them it's annoying to me that they don't. At the same time though, I understand if they don't want to extend even small investments where their bean counters don't see any profit in it since I want Netflix's disc by mail to remain a viable service as well. There's a balance to be maintained there and overall I think they do a pretty good job of finding it.

Here's an interesting one.

I checked the new releases page this week, and Primeval: New World is set to release this week. Great, I've been waiting for it.

I tried to add it to my queue, but it only lets me save it to the "saved, unavailable" queue with release date unknown. That's odd!

Anybody else see this?

I see it listed in the new release section where you can chose 'last week' and on the 'All DVD's Releasing This Week' page which is updated every Sunday. http://dvd.netflix.com/AllNewReleases Call them.

HOLY SMACKERS!!! today after NF just shipped out Before Midnight & Just like a Woman I just realized that there is literally NO new releases until 11/5. That means no movies for 2 weeks...CRAP

Is there any NEW decent movies to watch until then that's under the radar or not in the new release dates?

Only God Forgives. A thriller with Ryan Gosling. Looks like I'll be catching up on my streaming.

I feel your pain bro... although I'm guessing you very well might be female based on the titles mentioned above. I also only rent new releases, but I don't rent them fast enough to clear out my queue. I've still got plenty of backups to wait it out, such as Mud, 21 and Over, The East, 42, among others. I considered renting "Only God Forgives", but most reviewers indicate that it's pretty boring.

Was it added to streaming perhaps, Hulu Plus got the series while it was still running on Sy-Fy so it could be going to Netflix at some point also.

Ok while they are not new this might be a good time to re-visit Before Sunset and Before Sunrise just a thought...

Don't knock Before Midnight or the other two films in the series as "chick flicks." They're really good examples of loose structure narrative with much of the dialog improvised on the spot in order to seem less "staged." Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, and director Richard Linklater come up with a loose narrative structure and then just go where the scene takes them. Kind of refreshing compared to the overly Hollywoodized, formulaic "romantic" dramas that keep getting rammed down our throats. It follows Celine and Jesse's lives as they grow older, seen at different stages of their relationship. The Before series is supposed to be similar to the great French director Francois Truffaut's "Antoine Doinel" collection of films spanning 20 years or so of that fictional character's life with the same actors reprising their roles. The first of those films by Truffaut was the famous 400 Blows.

Yeah, but if you're going to do that, you'll need to watch "Sideways" so you'll have some wine to go with it...

NF doesn't like me. Another week with no new releases headed my way. I had two at the top of my queue; neither shipped.

I'll tell you what would be better: 5 minutes in to "Sideways" Danny Trejo marches onscreen and hacks off Giamatti's head with a machete. And... roll credits!

For my money that would be the best movie Paul Giamatti ever made.

Harsh ...

John Adams, Too Big To Fail, Cinderella Man .. and yes, even Sideways .. all great performances ..

Although Trejo hacking off his head would be interesting .. then mounting it on the back of a tortoise .. tongue.gif

I have had a lot of good luck getting new releases from Netflix the week they are released, but nothing lately. I have 23 movies in my queue and most of them are long wait, with a few very long wait and 1 or 2 as short wait. I don't know whether or not the demand is up this time of year since the weather is getting crappier and the Holidays are upon us or what. I have a mixture of new releases, TV shows and smaller titles in my queue and you think the smaller and lesser known titles would not have such a long wait. This is my first time experiencing this with Netflix. Overall, they have been great and have provided an easy going service to not only get movies, but new releases too.
