Hey guys.
This is a noob question but ive never done anything like this before.

My question is. How do I get my PS3 to show up on the TV?? For example:

My old Widescreen 32" CRT showed the PS3 on EXT3 channel. How do I set up the PS3 to show up on a channel??

Thanks.

i think that on HDTVs you need to change the input to what ever connection you are using on your PS3. Are you using HDMI or component cables on your PS3?

Component cables at the moment. The red, white, yellow cables.
Next week I will get a HDMI cable also.

Also..on another note... how do I get cable channels up? Like..I live in Ireland and I should have RTE 1, 2 and TV3! you know..those channels Ive no idea how to go about that..could someone also tell me how to go about this?

Those are NOT component cables. Those are just compoSITE video(yellow), and L/R audio cables(red/white).

component cables are Red, Green and Blue, and carry video only.

Thanks for clearing that up Dasher123.
I dont think I am forgetting something here...The CRT 32" TV only had the compoSITE video things in?? That was the only thing going from the PS3 to the TV.

Is that all I need for the LCD TV also??? if so..why cant I see anything?

most hdtv's now have hdmi connections which is the preferred method. otherwise use component (5 rca type connectors). you'll need to reset your ps3 to video out correctly. it should be in the manual on how to reset it. i think you hold down the power button for 20-30 seconds. i don't remember.

5 rxa connectors???? sorry...but what on earth are they?

just ran a quick search. they look like these. if you're not sure what you're doing, talk to an expert at your local av store.

composite cables come with the ps3. the below two cables are sold seperately. there are also aftermarket companies that make them.
