I don't know if there was a timetable on any of it. I know that something was mentioned about USA-HD a while ago, but can't recall the specifics.

Anyways, according to 'other sources'..erhm....USA-HD and Scifi-HD are uplinks to the bird at 110. Which is odd, because all the other new HD from E* is raining down on us from the 129 position, so I have no idea whats up with that...maybe its nothing at all...

So, does this mean that I could get the dual-tunered 222 for no extra tuner fee, instead of the 211, since I'm wired for that anyway now with my 322?

Not that I'm sure I'd want it anyway, if the only signal I could send to the 2nd set would be letterboxed versions of that stretched crap they show so much of - and the non-linear stretched stuff would be even worse. Don't know if I could live with not having the option of the correct ratios on the 2nd, 4:3 set.

The 622 has the option to crop the picture on tv2 so you can watch 4:3 content on an HD channel without boxing on all sides. I would image the 222 can also do that.

i agree. i recorded potc3 last week and on replay it was stunning. clearly the best pq i gotten from any broadcast by e*

don't know if this was due to the quality of the film or the signal, but if was the signal e* is doing something they don't do for all their other channels including hbo

let's see........ more hd channels with better pq. looks like a pretty easy decision for me when my contract with e* expires in a few months

Absolutely not. Dish is better. I just dropped Dish for D* and I'm regretting it.

I'm loving this. From someone who is very undecided between D*, E*, and cable this discussion is fantastic. Please carry on..

Ok...

From someone who is contemplating the same switch, why did you and why do you regret it?

Maybe he was referring to D*'s SD channels, for the little number of SD's I have flipped through, they were blurry beyond belief, making E*'s SD look HD

Luckily that has no impact in my house at all, I don't watch SD, the rest of the family don't care about PQ.

AFAIK the new customer sales center is here in Colorado. Apu works in customer service.

A posted conversation with a CSR on another forum said the new package can't be ordered until 9AM EST

T-minus . . . . . . ?

I am considering jumping on this offer as well. Had a conversation with customer no service last night and the rep did not even mention this package. I told him the cost of the existing packages was too much and hung up. My phone rang seconds later and it was some supervisor who informed me of the HD package starting today. He said that I could get the 722 for $30 per month as long as it was plugged into a phone line?
Sound too good to be true? I am calling back this am for more info.

Sounds like a Plan
On the phone with Dish, right now...

CS: You're not supposed to know about that offer. How do you know about it?
ME: There are no secrets any more with cell phone cameras and the internet.
CS: I'll transfer you now....

New CS: Are you a former Dish Network customer?
ME: Yes. I canncelled at least six month ago.
CS: Do you still have your equipment?
ME: No, I sent it back.
CS: I'm sorry sir, we don't have any promotions currently for our former customers.
CLICK.

I talked with Dish network a few minutes ago. No new channels were added today, HD packages were adjusted, thats all. And since I already have the HD utimate package there is nothing more I can do. No SCI-FI, no Travel, no USA, Weather, CNN etc......... totally bummed, I have been waiting all week for today. Wanted to catch Stargate Atlantis tonight in HD.........

The fine print reads...
Quote:

DishHD programming is available only in conjunction with the following packages: America’s Top 100, America’s Top 200, America’s Top 250, America’s “Everything” Pak.

I thought you could get this new $29.99 HD only package w/o the other crap.

Brajesh:
You can get the stand alone HD package. You just need a csr that knows about it. I just had them change mine and cancel my other package.

That's just a footnote that applies to all the HD pages/tabs in general. The HD Only package specifically says HD channels only (and something along the lines of the only HD-only package available in the market).

So did I, the way that page reads is that you have to have one of those packages, hopefully we can get some clarification.
How many people have successfully ordered this today?

What a bad advertisement. On the top part it says "The only all HD programming package..." Yet at the bottom it says "DishHD programming is available only in conjunction with the following packages: America’s Top 100, America’s Top 200, America’s Top 250, America's “Everything” Pak.
Why are they being so secretive about this? If it's something they don't really want to do, why do they? I don't get it. How can some CSR's have no clue? This sounds like my local cable companies service.

Yeah I don't know what they're trying to pull here. It's like they tentively put it out there hoping no one would order it?
Success! Called and got a CSR to change my a/c to this. Saves me $20/month not having America's Top 100. Very rarely watched SD channels, so this is good for those who just want HD.
I went thru their online order system and found the 29.99 Dish HD package. In fact after credits it told me the first month total was -$10!

Hopefully they get some channels added here soon!

I betcha this what they're afraid of. Everyone dropping their other packages to jump on this one. I bet this deal doesn't stick around long.
i signed up around 1 this afternoon. i called up and asked to get the HD standalone package. CSR didn't even blink. just said ok, your scheduled for installation is... and i'm now a Dish Network user. Dropping my cox cable crap channels for HD only.
