The current DVD version was released at the very dawn of DVD media, and while it isn't enhanced for 16:9, it still represents the benchmark for great home video, at least in terms of extras - it contains tons of fascinating stuff, all ported over from the laserdisc, and I'd like to see all of them replicated on Blu-ray, along with a remastered 1080/24p version of the film itself.

The day that disc comes to market, I'll be one of the first in the queue.

I'll 4th this. Great movie, but the DVD is almost unwatchable, I've been waiting for an anamoriphic DVD release on this forever now.

A couple of weeks ago I DVRd Dragon from Universal HD channel. I was soooo excited when I saw this was coming on, but I was let down by Universal HD again. It was way better than the DVD, but the PQ seemed some what soft and even though my reciever indicated DD 5.1, the sound was only 2.0, which is a common problem on the Universal HD channel. So it could have been a lot better, but at least it was watchable.

Some of my other Universal picks would be:

Jurassic Park
Blues Brothers
Back to the Future
Midnight Run
Smokey and the Bandit
Hard Target
U-571 in DTS HD MA....please
Apollo 13

Same holds true for directors, except maybe just a few. And when it comes to really wanting a movie that for one reason or another that does not make it to Blu-ray, (or might be released on Blu-ray) I become really familiar with the name of the studio...like the company that made Grindhouse for example.

This is easy for me, I guess because I was a movie theater manager for about 10 years from '93 to '03. I guess its still in my blood because my in DVD cabinet, the titles are organized and grouped together by the releasing studio.

Is that anything like "The Van"? 1977.

Since i'm purple i already own alot of the titles in HD-DVD BUT if Universal should ever go purple also, one release i'd LOVE to see come to BluRay(or HD-DVD)is "Flash Gordon".Universal released a a very nice collector's edition dvd relrelease some months back, but didn't come out with an HD-DVD version at that time.In the future a version on either HD formats would be nice.

Too many to list. Universal definitely has the best movies. Unfortunately, we will never see them on blu-ray but it's good to dream.

The only dream is that Universal will stay HD DVD exclusive forever.

Why would u get rid of your HD DVD collection?!? Your discs still work even after the Warner decision, even if the format is "dead". I'm keeping my collection, heck even if they never released 1 more HD DVD I still have over 200 movies to watch. Seems like a waste to me.

Actually, I already said it. Battlestar is my favorite current show, and I would love to have it on BD.

Serenity!

I almost bought an xbox 360 plus HD-DVD add-on for this one title but Microsofts's choice to not support lossless audio made it a no go.

Don't forget the Heroes S1 box set. One of my favorite HD DVDs. Great show (though S2 wasn't as good) and good transfers... not as good as Lost on BD but the Lost source material is pristine!!
