You are in the unfortunate position that you cannot do a side by side of these 2 subwoofer choices.

The eD will be quite a bit more powerful, while the Hsu is a more elegant package.

You do realize that you are talking about AN ENTIRE OCTAVE lower?

That would be like saying a sub goes flat to 40hz so it will still go down to 20Hz.

Sure it will, but how loud?

What would be some examples of dance music that has 5 Hz content?

Ignoring the $$$, definitely two ULS-15 would be great in a room of your size. Im a big believer that multiple subs are better then one subs even if the output of one subs is greater.....there are other factors that matter.

you cant really look at the amp and compare these two subwoofers. They might be pretty close above 30Hz, but there is going to be a gigantic advantage to the ported subwoofer when it approaches resonance, i mean gigantic, that ed is very efficient and making SPL from its port, its probably comparable to 4 sealed 18's if not more right at resonance.

this is true, room treatment is actually a vital component to sound quality. the best subwoofer in the world can still sound horrible in a bad room. Fiberglass or dampeners in the corners of the room can help a lot.

if a tweeter is flat to 20k will it go to 40k

Very good points. Will you be reviewing the ULS-15 anytime soon? I'm thinking your review would help out which is the reason I went with the A7-900

Keep them reviews coming Craig as you can see, you have made choosing the right sub much more easier on us less knowledgeable subwoofer savvy consumers.

I said before the JL F112 did not shake my windows at 10hz like the ULS-15. Well, I just did some testing and it can. I just had to turn the volume up much higher. Obviously this is because the JL has a high pass filter that rolls off the really deep bass.

I have a question and I guess it may show my inexperience. I have an epik valor, also a 15" sealed sub, and it has more overall internal area than the ULS I believe. I am assuming this due to the fact that above and below the driver there is a good 5 inches of space while the ULS is pretty flush to the driver. However, the valor only goes to 18hz. Since there is more liters of cubic area inside my valor, how is this possible for the ULS to go almost an entire octave lower?

The ULS is using gobs and gobs of very low frequency eq to counter the low frequency rolloff.

Ahhh, I see. I knew that with ported subs the manufacturer can customize what frequency to tune the port to, so that is why i was confused as to how they did it with this sealed sub. Thanks.

You should be able to eq your Valor to play lower frequencies with the use of the proper sort of equalizer. The eD eq can do the trick. This of course comes at the expense of lowering headroom and increasing distortion when played at louder volume.

It has to affect headroom, but should only do so when there is serious content in the area being eq'd. In other words, if the signal is mainly 40hz, the headroom shouldn't be affected. If the signal is 16hz or if it is a mixed signal over a range of frequencies from very low to higher up, there will definitely be an effect on headroom.

Sorry, I read 40+ pages from the beginning and then another 10 starting at the end. Did anyone ever end up generating frequency vs Group Delay numbers for the ULS-15?

There is a large contingent of 'mate a woofer to panel speakers' who would like to know the group delay numbers (since panel speakers are so fast). I now know the intimate details about various conspiracy theories about Craig and and the other person, but I don't know the data that we can find for the other subs. Did I miss the page, or have the tests not been run yet?
