Thanks for pointing that out to me. I didn't realize that was part of the way they were handling some of these. Kind of a bummer as that is one I like to have in my collection.

WB has the rights to a few more Pal films although Paramount has it for the most famous ones like War of the Worlds.

HD is the only way to fully appreciate the campy goodness of StarCrash. Words and standard-definition simply don't do it and Ms. Munro justice. I highly recommend giving it a try. ;)

Because you can't have too many films with "naked" in the title starring Eleanor Parker. Also with Charlton Heston, very manly.

It's a woman's romance story, moving into action/adventure in the last reel.

Also Elephant Walk...I believe they used the same set.

Twisted Nerve (1968)

(#2 of 12 films of the 1960s)

Hayley Mills terrorized to Bernard Herrmann score!

^ Don't think I've seen it. I think that's the nanny from The Omen (Billie Whitelaw) in a couple of the photos though. Looks pretty intense.

I wouldn't mind seein a couple other Hayley Mills flicks bumped up to HD. The Parent Trap and The Moon-Spinners were two of my favorites as a kid.

A High Wind in Jamaica (1965)

(#3 of 12 films of the 1960s)

Kids go pirating! The setup is like a children's adventure story, but the tale is darker and more disturbing. Nothing children can't see, but still...

This was meant for Hayley Mills, but she had passed out of the age range by the time it was made.

Are there any plans for a BD release of "The Hitcher", the original movie from 1986 with Rutger Hauer?

(#4 of 12 films of the 1960s)

Seance on a Wet Afternoon (1964)

Dandy thriller of a psychic who kidnaps a little girl so she can help the police find her.

Candy (1968)

(#5 of 12 films of the 1960s)

I have limited patience for 1960s absurd groovy freakout films, but the review generated a bit of interest, which makes me want to revisit it.

The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961)

(#6 of 12 films of the 1960s)

I could have put Day of the Triffids (1962) in this UK SF slot, but will go with a slightly more adult title.

Quintessential "finding love during the collapse at the end of the world" story.

Great choices!

Candy is made for watching with other people so you're not all alone going "What were they thinking?" A friend of mine has a 35mm Technicolor print of it that we watch every couple of years.

I re-watched Day the Earth Caught Fire last year and it still holds up very well as a sober, serious, science fiction film. A Blu with a new transfer would look spectacular.

Waterhole #3 (1967)

(#7 of 12 films of the 1960s)

My favorite comedy Western. Is this broadcast anymore? Uncensored? I think the sexual politics might make it difficult today.

While I was sorting through my DVDs to thin them out I noticed that U-Turn is not on Blu yet. It's one of the few remaining DVDs I own that I want to own on Blu.

I thought Tristan and Isolde was not available on BluRay. However, I found the region free version available in japan here http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/switch-language/product/B0019R3MD0/ref=dp_change_lang/375-7756643-2746506?ie=UTF8&language=en_JP

in case anyone was ever interested.

I keep hoping to hear an update about "It Happened One Night" (1934) and/or "All That Jazz" (1979). Last I heard, both movies were given the 4K treatment by Sony and 20th Century Fox, respectively. That was about a year ago. Fingers crossed we'll see one or both of these titles sometime this year. Anyone hear anything new on this front?

The Innocents (1961)

(#8 of 12 films of the 1960s)

Deborah Kerr in a version of "The Turn of the Screw", adapted by John Mortimer and Truman Capote. This is available on a region B Blu-ray.

Eraserhead.
David Lynch took forever to release this to SD DVD due to compression issues.
He was finally satisfied and signed off.

Since he cares so much about quality-
I would think he'd jump on releasing this title in HD Bluray.

BTW- Buckaroo Banzai would be nice as well.
