The Official BD Wishlist and "When or will this movie come out on BD? Thread - Page 4

I sure hope it's a BD release. they really abandoned this at the theaters. Only made it to a few screens...

My wife loves The Princess Bride and I know back in Feb it was supposed to be released on blu-ray but got postponed and is still not yet released in the USA. I was wondering if this movie was available from another counrty that region coding still works in a USA PS3. I know other movies such as The Island are available from France or UK and still work in a USA PS3. I would love to get this movie for my wife for x-mas if available at all.

This and Labyrinth are two of my most wanted "80s" movies on BD. Hopefully the wait will be worth it with respectable PQ/AQ. As many times as this title's been re-issued on standard DVD I'm really hoping they don't drop the ball to encourage many future double/trip/quadruple dips.

No, Fox sucks the same in every country.

The is one movie with a really tortured release history. The new 20th anniversary DVD apparently has the best transfer of all the versions out there, but all of the extras and commentaries from last year's Dread Pirate Edition and even the old 2001 Special Edition release are gone.

We got Oldboy on Blu-ray... a masterpiece of Korean cinema.

Now I want, in no particular order:

A Bittersweet Life
My Sassy Girl
Sunflower
Public Enemy
Guns and Talks

There are so many more to add, but that's a few good ones to start off with.

...add your own Korean title to this list.

I've been out of Korean cinema on DVD ever since I started my Blu-ray collection.

Id buy A bittersweet life in a heartbeat.
Hmm never seen any of them except My Sassy girl which was a nice film.
I will see Oldboy next week when I receive it

Korean film out already on blu ray i've seen is called "The Host". A definite must see if you love asian movies!
A Bittersweet Life was one of the original release titles for HD DVD in Japan, but seemingly, it has been dropped from the release schedule. It is probably my favorite Korean movie.

I hope we see a ton more of foriegn films(loved OLDBOY) but I just can't imagine we would get alot for awhile. I don't think OLDBOY sold well considering I couldn't find it on any retail shelves anywhere and had to oder it online. From what I heard OLDBOY was a test film for other releases.

My Sassy Girl (My Savage Girlfriend) is quality. I'd like that.
Do you want me that bad? LOL

We need studio from Korea to start releasing in Blu-Ray. (Samsung is a Korean company that is heavily Blu-Ray supporter) Come on Korea!

OldBoy is owned by Tartan...that's why we see it in Blu-Ray in US.

We have Hong Kong and Japan releasing movies in Blu-Ray. We are still waiting for Korea!

I'll be in heaven if I see them in Blu-Ray - one major reason why I picked Blu-Ray...majority of the asian movies going with Blu-Ray

A Moment To Remember
Windstruck
The Classic
Tae Guk Gi
200 Pounds Beauty
and of course My Sassy Girl
too many to list...

Sunflower rocks! The best movie in 2007 for me....love that movie. You have good taste in movie mate!

A Tale Of Two Sisters

They can release it just in time for the American remake.

Hey OP, you really want Guns and Talks?

I propose Memories of Murder.
Yes Please

My Sassy Girl
Memories of Murder
Failan (!!!!!!)
Save the Green Planet
Tales of two Sisters
JSA

and many more
There are not enough korean (or asian in general) films out in HD
post #108 of 2475
Nobody mentioned Bichunmoo. Don't you guys remember that classic?
Tartan released Oldboy as a test case to test the waters. So if you want more, go buy Oldboy and show them there is support. Also, encourage others!!
oldboy took a while to get going, but it was a HELL of a movie

The Host otoh, sucked. Don't waste your time.

the only thing that disturbs me in these foreign films is the stuff they eat...The squid scene in Oldboy and the guy eating bat feet or whatever in The Host.

I love The Host, it's like a grown up Godzilla film (with some of the silliness intact).

Ah...there's a truly great and warped flick.

Also a nomination for The Classic, from the same director that brought us My Sassy Girl.

Why stop at Old Boy, give me the rest of the Vengeance trilogy! Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Old Boy and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance would be a nice set.
On a side note, did anyone else read that Lee Byun-hun got cast as Storm Shadow for G.I.Joe? I just hope this movie doesn't bomb.

WIKI says "The Blu-Ray Edition of the film is expected to release October 15, 2008 for it's 15 year Aniversary. It will contain all the features of the Platinum Edition and more features. It will be available by itself or in a Limited Edition Boxset with Simba's Pride and Lion King 1 1/2."

Don't know how true this is.

I can't wait for Lion King, Monster Inc, Finding Nemo, etc on Blu-Ray.

It's nice to have the family come over for the holiday; and all the kids requested The Cars, Happy Feet, Rataoulle on Blu-Ray.
These two and Little Mermaids are the only Disney flicks I'd get. Maybe Beauty and the Beast.

I don't count Pixar because they are their own entity. I don't consider them Disney at all. Even though the name's on there.

Give me Lilo & Stitch, Aladdin, Mulan, and Pocahontas, and I'll die happy
