Glad I got a PS3 told my brother to do the same but he stuck with the Sony player.

Internet connectivity will be the new "multi angle". A feature that gets used to trumpet in the new format and no-one ever uses after the novelty wears off.

Wrong forum. Did you mean to put this in the Blu-ray player forum?

Why? To be blasted as an HD-DVD fanboy? Not trying to offend but I guess sarcasm is sometimes difficult to detect in print.

People go to the Blu-ray player to talk about Blu-ray players. That is all. The Blu-ray player forum is not a Blu-ray advocacy forum. It is a forum to discuss the good, the bad and the ugly.

Yep. That article highlights one of two strengths that HD-DVD offers over BD (for the average consumer)....
1) lower entry price
2) mature standard/specification

BD has always lacked both and still does to this day. They will eventually get there...

"Representatives at the Blu-ray booth at CES told BetaNews that the PlayStation 3 is currently the only player they would recommend, due to upcoming changes to the platform."

Yes, Im glad to see the superior format is winning.

If it was only first gen players, thats one thing, but there are 3rd gen players out there for$1000 and up that STILL can't play the complete disc for 1.1?........and then we do it all over again for 2.0?

How can the BDA have reps telling people that they only recomend them buying the PS3? So I guess Sharp, Pioneer, and all the others are okay with this?

If anyone even has even the slightest doubt that HD DVD would have won the war with no exclusive studios to either side, they have a few screws loose.

Nuff said...

1. The entry price issue is largely a matter of marketing strategies rather than innate platform manufacturing cost. Now that Blu-ray adoption will be increasing dramatically, we will see this play out. Every DVD manufacturer is now working on Blu-ray you can bet.

2. The maturity of standards issue has most annoyed me in terms of the advanced audio codecs. I don't really care about special features but do want the highest quality sound. In regard to this, both HD DVD and Blu-ray are lacking. I gather from the forums that this is a hot-button issue for a lot of adopters. I will be buying a new player soon just to get on-board decoding.

1.0 players will be able to play the movies for 1.1 and 2.0. Wrong forum and not news.
