Up until this past month, they were outstanding with their inventory, and the in store rentals and returns put them way ahead. Now, I'm really in a bind to decide whether to hold on for another month. It's really too bad for the consumer.

I only have 2 BB's left - one is 20 minutes away, the other 15. I used to have one 3-4 minutes away, and another 10.

So In-store rentals do me no good as I'm not going to spend $5-6 in gas to get a 'free' rental. But I'm pretty sure they won't exist come Thursday so it's all pretty moot. Just wish the free rentals I got for signing up would show up. Shame they pretty much bunked that over.

You do understand the fact that BB being for sale doesn't mean that liquidation is a foregone conclusion right?
If no one comes forward, then liquidation is a reality unless Monarch let's Icahn take over.
Enjoy your cold comfort when the only options are Redbox, NF or buying everything from Amazon.

And no movies today either.

Wait, . Yeah, excuse me for complaining about trying a service and them not actually sending anything. Seems like Thursday might be filled with a bunch of LOLs when the place announced Chapter 7.

WOW you're complaining this much and you're on a FREE trial............ Move on BB is not for you.....

Well, easy to see how they are no longer relevant.

Whenever Blockbuster sends me a disc, this is a part of the email I get:

Quote:

"We've shipped "Movie Title" to you. You can expect to receive it on or around "Day of the week, Month, day, year".
If after three days you have not received this Disc, use the Report Disc Issues link to let us know."

Your discs are 3 days late. So go to your queue. Look at the titles that are supposedly "At Home," that you haven't received yet. Click on the "Report" link next to each disc that is 3 or more days late. Then select "I never received the disc." The next day, Blockbuster will send you another copy of the disc you never received.

Had 3 new releases shipped Monday, got them Tuesday, now going to exchange them at the store today for 3 more releases. Life is good and no complaints.

For "those" having issues, you can send BB an email and they'll take care of whatever your problem is (within reason).

Already did so and my next 3 (replacements) are suppose to arrive 3/10. Guess we'll see. Glad I didn't pay for this service. As so far, they have done nothing but disappoint.

I signed up for a free trial 2.5 weeks ago and got 6 new movies that are all on long wait with Netflix, I traded 2 at the local store I have not been at in years and they informed me that day was the last day they are doing rentals and liquidating and shutting down the store in a few weeks.

With no local stores and the bankrupcy news I canceled before it was time to pay my subscription. My account is shut down since last Thursday but the next day they mailed the next movie on my list anyway and received it yesterday.

I hated BB because of all the times they screwed me on late fees. Until the streaming announcement I loved Netflix, but they are trying hard to push customers to streaming and away from renting.

Now I hope BB somehow survives or I will need to buy all my new releases in the future. Netflix has the 28 day delay, then unless you happen to have a movie return the day it comes available, it goes to long wait.

I feel like people have some emotional connection to BB since it's been around most of our lives (if you're in your 20s or 30s). But seriously, all I hope for is competition, not necessarily a certain B&M store's survival.
I'm not partial to BB. They have a store that is close by, < 2 miles. So, it makes it great for exchanges for movies, but I see the writing on the wall, and they may not exist in the near future. So, hopefully there will be a good competition, so that Netflix doesn't go the way of CS to the likes of Direct TV, satelitte and Cable.

I have both Netflix and Blockbuster because I just want to watch movies. Blockbuster has had the better selection of movies for the past year, that's the only emotional attachment I have. The Double Life of Veronique just shipped to me this morning from Blockbuster.

does no one have any other local video stores anymore? such as Family Video.

I have only seen Family Video in my travels. Just looked and the closest one is 105 miles away.

I don't know of any mom-and-pop stores around me. All the BB's within a reasonable distance are closing.

Not that I care, since I haven't been to a video store in years now. Just answering the question.

Same here. I'm on the 8 bucks a month with NF (streaming) and I get all my discs from BB. I hope BB doesnt go under cause I dont have any mom and pop video store around my area for blu ray disc. I have no issues with BB and the local store near my work has a large selections of discs.

Sure, but does Family Video carry Blu-ray catalog titles, or do they pretty much mirror what Netflix is doing? I would be surprised if they carry Criterions.

I really don't know. I do know the Hulu Plus now has a ton of Criterions exclusively streaming - though that might not be your bag.

I don't know that it's anyone's bag who watches a projector setup.

Nope. Blockbuster ran them all out of town when they came here. When BB announces death tomorrow, I will have no rental stores around me.

I've met one person who has a projector, and he's my dad's best friend. Just sayin'.

The fate of the company should be announced in about an hour. Not sure how this works for BBo, but I can't imagine they will be getting any more new releases either way (if they get a small reprieve, they still owe the studios 50+ million dollars).

So I guess it's time to cancel the membership...
My membership just renewed. So, I guess I'm on for another month.

My subscription was due to renew last Monday, I canceled on Saturday so I wouldn't be on for another month. They were much better then Netflix for blu-ray rental, but I'm convinced the judge will order them to close up & liquidate today.

Sucker I'm sure they'll refund your money if they have to close up shop though

No....the hearing started at 10 EST....so it's been over 2 hours. Surprised we haven't heard anything. Given that the judge has already expressed dislike of the proposed plan, I fully expect them to be ordered to liquidate.

Even though I pretty much hate BB (and already have on my dancing shoes), it'll be sad for renters to see them go.

This from Reuters -

Parties to the Blockbuster Inc (BLOAQ.PK) bankruptcy were in talks on Thursday outside of a courtroom where a judge was expected to either decide to sell the movie rental chain or essentially shut it down.

A court clerk said the hearing, which was supposed to begin at 10 a.m. EST (1500 GMT), was recessed till 1 p.m. because the various parties were in negotiations and had asked for more time to talk.

So it should be starting now.

...for now. I give then another few months. Studios are not even going to send them new releases.
Good news for people who use Blockbuster's online and in-store services. Hope they can get it together, repay their obligations and get back to normal operations.

I know today's news makes some here sad. Can't figure that out, but if that's what get's them through the day, so be it.

Oh. Another prediction. I thought today was the day they died?
