I think more info is needed - are your top three available? Also, are they new release or catalog?

No the top three aren't available. There are a list of current titles/new releases at the top of the queue but I have at least six older titles that all have a status of "available" but still nothing ships.

I think this is due to them waiting because those top ones might soon be available - it's a longstanding issue but I don't think it's due to the bankruptcy. Someone else want to jump in? I don't have BB anymore.

I was thinking that they might be waiting too, but 3 days is unacceptable. I haven't called or emailed customer service because they have been of little help in the past.

Check your account settings and make sure that your Shipping Preference is set to "Speed" and not "Order". If it is set to Speed, then I have no idea.

I just returned a disc last night and they are already shipping my next disc as of noon today. I'm only a one at a time customer, though -- don't know if that makes any difference.
I would check the setting. I have mine set to speed and have yet to wait for disc(s) to ship.

Just checked and it is set to "speed" and the status at the top says "active subscription". This is really odd.

Just looked at my queue in it shows 3 titles in a processing status. So I guess they are back on track but since it's so late, I doubt they'll go out until Monday. Ugh I hope Dish can help them improve this service.
Since my new billing month starts tomorrow, I went ahead and put a 3 month hold on my account. I'll track their upcoming Criterions and see if they become available, if so, I'll unfreeze my account and start renting again from them.

I can't believe they are shipping the Harry Potter BD today. Now if I could only get Black Swan!

if you've never used Vudu and have a device that streams it, you probably have a free HD movie rental with new account - and they have Black Swan.

Dish Keeping About 575 Blockbuster Stores
Quote:

Dish Network, new owner of bankrupt Blockbuster Inc., is keeping about 575 stores in operation while pulling the plug on another 1,100 stores, according to filings with U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.
Looks like Dish is keeping at least 500 leases (still no word on what they are going to actually do with the stores or mail-order business):

Dish Network takes over 500 Blockbuster locations for some reason

Earlier this month, when Dish Network announced that it would be taking over Blockbuster's remaining assets, we openly wondered about what the deal would mean for the thousands of (mostly) empty rental stores still scattered across the country. Shuttering all of them seemed like a very real possibility, but it now looks like Dish has plans for at least a few of Blockbuster's old stomping grounds. On Saturday, the company agreed to assume the leases for about 500 of the 1,700 Blockbuster locations still in operation, according to papers filed with a New York Bankruptcy Court. Of course, it's still unclear what Dish plans to actually do with these stores -- or, for that matter, with the Blockbuster brand, as a whole. But it certainly looks like its long-term vision may incorporate at least some of Blockbuster's brick-and-mortar roots.

EDIT: Wendell beat me by minute, but I'll leave it anyways since the headline is funnier. Although his article says they are keeping them "in operation" which would mean they'd continue to rent discs, I believe.

I, too, saw this morning that Dish had announced it would keep some 500 BB stores open. I hope one of them is the store nearest to me. I also hope that Dish will keep BB's mailorder business going.

I've seen no mention of this in any of the news items. I wonder if the stores to-be-closed will have "fire sales" on their discs, or if they'll ship them to their mailorder locations for incorporation there, or...? What other options might they consider?

Ditto....I've been checking several times a week for news releases, and I have seen pretty much no mention from news or Dish or analysts of the mail-order side....it's all focused/guesses on the stores and the streaming.

Seems like they'd announce something, but I guess it's early into the acquisition process still.

After some digging, found some documents about rejection of expired leases dated 4/15 (expected to grow) but if you're curious if your BB is currently on the list to be axed, this is probably a good starting point.

I make no claims how accurate this is though, but just posting it for FYI. I noticed a few on the list I know already closed, and also found the last one in a reasonable distance appears like it will get the axe as well.

Best way I found was to search for a comma, space, state (i.e. I searched on ", PA" to find the PA locations that are probably closing). Unfortunately it's broken up into several documents so it takes a bit of work.

Notice of Rejection of Expired Leases:
Part 1
Part 2 (Amended)
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6 (Amended)
Part 7
Part 8

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't find the one closest to me (on Ponce de Leon in Atlanta) listed, so perhaps that's good. But if anyone else in Atlanta is curious, I did find the one on Lavista (which I believe has already closed, assuming that's the one near Toco Hills), and also saw the one on Piedmont and the one on Howell Mill. Honestly though, unless they get things turned around very soon, it's moot to me. Seems like just about everything left in my queue is on a wait, some things that were in stock at my local store have changed to "not carried at your store", and a couple titles that were supposed to become available today now say "on order". My next billing date is this weekend. I may give them another month to get things straightened out, but that's probably it.

My local store had a sale on their discs a few weeks ago. I picked up some cheap BD titles. It didn't last very long - I went the first day and planned to go back later on to see if prices dropped, but they were done in a week or two.

mproper -- Thanks for your impressive research into the bankruptcy court records. Dish's press release today indicated that they are keeping about 500 locations open. From this I inferred that the rest of BB's 1700 stores will be closed. If so, we will apparently find out about more closings later. Anyway, for the moment at least, my neighborhood BB is not on the abandoned leases list.
Update: Someone with much more time on their hands than me made this, which I believe are the stores they believe will remain open based on the aforementioned documents (for now). Currently 529 on the list.

You're welcome, even though I found links to those at the ihateblockbuster forums (which is frequented by BB employees). Even though I'm not currently a BB customer, I have been somewhat fascinated with watching BB nosedive over the last several years, so as it winds down here, I have been keeping tabs on it and am curious what Dish is planning to do with their investment (as well as what will happen to the mail order service).

It also may be worth noting that at the forums, that BB employees are claiming their stores only received 2 new releases this week (King's Speech and Gulliver's Travels) and no others, such as The Rabbit Hole for which N. Kidman was nominated for an Oscar. Not sure how the online works or if they got it. Maybe just a period of limbo while things are straightened out.

I've got no stores left within 150 miles. The Kings Speech is in the mail, however Rabbit Hole and Somewhere are on order. Against All Odds went from on order to unavailable. Taxi Driver is still on order. I'm curious to see what happens with Dish taking over.
wow, none in the city of Chicago at all.
Funny, nothing "in Atlanta", all way out in the burbs. Oh well, as I said, unless they turn around, I wouldn't have stayed around anyway.
My local store is not on the map, so I hope it is not 100% accurate. I was swapping out a movie on Saturday and there were two different people opening new accounts while I was there. This location always has customers in it, even during the week. Oh, well.

If the link you posted turns out to be anything like right, things look pretty bleak for BB customers in OKC. The three stores closest to me are not on the to remain open list. The nearest one shown on the list is 4 miles away. In fact only 3 are on the to remain open list in the entire OKC metro area. That's not many stores to serve a population of more than 1.25 million.

My neighborhood BB store did not have Rabbit Hole on BD this morning, although it did have several copies of The King's Speech. The BB Web site shows Rabbit Hole as On Order, which if previous experience is any guide means that BB's chances of ever getting it range between slim and none.

i would believe it for Chicago. I knew of 4 stores around me when I moved here and only one was still open the last year or two. It's huge so it might still be open for now but I think it'll close soon.
