Blockbuster BD rental discussion thread - Page 13

It seems to me that BB is throttling me. I have the two movies at a time with unlimited exchanges plan. The past three weekends, I've returned both movies for an exchange at the store either on Saturday or Sunday, expecting BB to ship the next two movies in queue on Monday (all movies at top of my list are available and are not new releases). They only ship one movie on Monday, and the next movie on Tuesday. They used to ship both on Monday in the past. Anyone else with similar pattern?

italiano, I have the three movies at a time and if I exchange/drop off all three at a BB store on Sunday, I will get two shipped on Monday & one on Tuesday. I have noticed that if I mix in a DVD title, all three will ship on Monday. BR titles seem to take another day to arrive vs. DVD titles.

I had three ship today, 1 new release & 2 slightly older BD's. I went through my email notifications and the last time they shipped three to me the same day was Aug 18th. Maybe I just got lucky this time.

It is very apparent that shipping times have degraded in recent months. I called CS and they deny it. They essentially say that if I used to get two or three shipped out on a Monday from returns over the weekend I was lucky.

He repeated and repeated again they need a minimum of 24 business hours for any movies to ship.

Very sad that they are in denial (this was a supervisor I am quoting).

Is Netflix better?
I never once got a title (all Blu-ray) shipped on a Monday following my returns over the weekend - either while I had the 3-at-a-time with unlimited exchange 2-week free-trial or when I switched to 1-at-a-time (unlimited in-store at first, then later cut down to 2-per-month) for the 7 months that I kept the account active; it made getting new releases virtually impossible, as everyone else got them shipped on Monday, and they were all "[Short/[Very] Long] wait" by Tuesday.

Great to see that nothing's changed in the 7 months since I canceled…

I received Made of Honor (don't laugh) today. That's the first BD I've received next day. Something is changing. YMMV

I'm about to buy a BD player and after reading the Blockbuster and Netflix threads I don't know which one to get. Any comments?

No 2-a-day cap for me. I just got three shipped in one day a couple of weeks ago.

The format shows DVD but the title includes Blu-ray. I'm pretty sure they're BDs. If you're getting them, let me know if they are.

I've gotten the first one and indeed it is BD!

I'm 3 at a time, and I've received 3 shipping notices in one day, and I got the movies spaced out over 5 days.

Well Boys, BB has finally caught on about the in-store exchange loop hole.

I just tried to exchange my last mailer for the month at my BB #2 store and was told that I had reached my limit. Since I had my previous exchange receipt clearly showing I was on exchange 4 out of 5 for the month, the manager tried to override the charge. She then said, "Well you must have another exchange at another BB store this month". "You know, BB has linked all the stores regarding in store exchanges"

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

That stinks. I'm kind of surprised they caught on.

Some of the memberships have limited exchanges. The plan you have with unlimited exchanges is now $35/mo I believe.

You're really lucky, briansemerick. Your plan was the same plan that I started with and for some reason, I wasn't granted the same "Grandfather Clause" as you.

I can confirm... just got back from a store today and they were about to charge 1.99 for the rental because I was over the limit for the month. He gave me the rental for free, but it is over now. But good while it lasted.
OK, now it is the first of the month. I went to do an instore exchange, and was asked to pay $1.99. I have the 5 exchanges per month plan, what is up with this???

The manager did waive the fee this time, but what gives?
