S300 and my Sony 985 changer

I'm looking at an S300 for a blu ray player but currently use the Sony dvd/cd 985 for a cd changer due the on screen display. Will these operate at the same frequency on the remote. For example if I hit the power button on the s300 remote will it turn on my changer as well?

They likely operate on the same freq but thousands of devices operate on the same frequency. Each device SHOULD have a unique device id. A device ignores commands with a different device id.

The reason I say should is because accidentally ce companies will re-use a device ID. There is no way to predict the issue. It is very rare but if it happens you simply need to get another player*.

Once I saw someone report that turning on or off there Sony DVD player turned on or off their Vizio TV. It just isn't something you can predict. Obviously one or both sides made a mistake.

* There are advanced methods using a RF-IR repeater where specific commands are only sent to one device (i.e Harmon 890) so the DVD player never gets BD player commands and vice-versa. Once again it is very very rare but there is a workaround.
