True Romance formatting question...

Hey ya'll!

I'm watching True Romance for the first time and there are bars on the top and bottom and on the sides! I understand the top and bottom but is this movie in some weird format where there are supposed to be bars on the side??

True Romance was released in non anamorphic widescreen, and I'm pretty sure that's what you have.

You should seek out the Unrated 2 disc director's cut, which is 16x9 and has both Dolby & Dts 5.1--Best Buy usually has it on sale pretty often.

Article on anamorphic vs non-anamorphic widescreen: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articl...hic/index.html

According to the IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108399/dvd the two-disc special edition is anamorphic.

The special edition is worth it. Extras are great too. One of my Top 10 movies of all time.

Yep, it is pretty great. I wish it would get released on some HDM

good movie that could have been great if QT had been able to direct it himself.

Well, we'll never know. If all other movies came out half as good we'd be in good shape.

well really QT said Tony Scott followed his script almost exactly except tony and the producers choose to tell the story in a linear form. QT's script kept Clarence and Alabama mysteries until about half way through. The idea was to have various charectars dealing with their aftermath building up their legend until we finally get all the answers in the 2nd half. Which to me sounds a lot cooler but again I enjoyed the movie and QT had no qualms with it.

I didn't know that or don't remember. I remember seeing the stuff about the ending and their discussions.

Qt talks about it in his commentary on the 2 disc special edition.

Yeah, I got the disc from Netfllix. It appeared to be really old. It was a "flipper" disc.

Ok, cool. I probably didn't get to all the extras. The ending intrigued me so I may have only watched that extra. May be time to revisit.
