I can't disagree with your assessment because I was so put off by her quintessential strangeness that I didn't listen to her singing as closely as I might otherwise have done.

I am almost, but not quite, embarrassed by the delight I often take in watching some of AI's odder, less talented contestants. In many, perhaps most, ways they bring it on themselves but I often feel a little sorry for them, nonetheless. The rants of the crazy blonde that they captured on film, though, was one of the funniest AI segments in recent memory.

They were actually kinder to her than she probably deserved. Her overblown reaction was to get more TV time.

Based on the way she chooses to look, she craves attention, good or bad. That should help her actressing career.

So, do you think the producers paid for the stuporhero guy to get the waxing done?

Ok I've never figured this out....who has to sit through all those thousands and thousands of people who jam into theose arena's trying to get their shot? Are there a ton of screeners who sit and listen to each and every one of them, then pick a certain few to give to Simon and crew???

My wife and I are watching it right now and we both agree there's something wrong with her. The wife thinks she might have a mild autism or something.

Good question. It seems like at least one time each season, they do something goofy where they promise someone they can come back if they do something. I remember one guy singing to people in the streets. I know there have been more, just can't think of them.

During the 2nd hour of AI, did anyone experience drops outs. While watching the segment with the girl (kick boxer hottie) I was experiencing drop outs. Was I alone?

Paul Marturano is simply hilarious, Hes up there with Leroy Wells, and Martik "The Excentric Panther" Manukian! If you don't get it, you take life to seriously. Temptress Brown is a sweetheart. Given the caliber of her voice, i don't think they should have did a showcase on her family though.

I would tend to agree that she overreacted to be on television. I do think they were right that she would be better in a band than the show.

I've read articles by reporters who've attempted to get through the process to see how it works.

There is a small army of people who screen the contestants. They're obviously looking for talent, freaks, and sob stories. They keep lists of contestants that have potential entertainment value in these categories and meet with their bosses several times a day to find out what they're looking for that day. Then they weed out the normal, the average, the mediocre and the boring.

The producers meet and if I remember right, they go through the lists and pick a few who will get through the front door. This is a tiny tiny fraction of the mob that shows up. Most never even get to talk to a second AI employee. That's one reason why freaks tend to act extra freaky once they find themselves in front of a camera -- these people have actually made it farther than hundreds of others. They often think it's a quick audition to beat out the smaller untalented crowd left in the lobby.

It's too bad they pick obvious mental cases instead entertaining people who aren't good singers. The funniest contestant last season was the guy who showed up with his much more talented cousin yet suddenly found himself singing "Amazing Grace" in front of Simon, Paula and Randy. They almost died laughing after he admitted he wasn't really seriously singing. He was the one who asked if he could do some trash talk for the cameras as he was leaving. They said "Go for it!" so he stormed out yelling "That was good singin'! Don't y'all make me come back in here!". His cousin looked shaken as he tried to calm him down. Whoever picked that hilarious guy over a lunatic did the right thing.

No drop outs here and I pity you. I hope you got to see her demonstrating how to dislocate an attacker's shoulder. The guy she practiced on was so lucky.

Just curious what cable system you are using?

the last audition last night was the most amazing audition of the series.

I went to bed with that dang song in my head.

It was a better song than most of the ones they make the winner sing during the finale.

The one young lady who did the Britney impersonation was hotter than hot and very talented. She's the winner. You heard it here first.

I thought the same thing about the high kickin' hourse trainer from Tuesday night. But this girl is better IMO. Let's see what's available from the rest of the country.

I'll reserve judgement until I see the rest of the pack. I'd agree that she was the best SO FAR, with the kickboxer not far behind. The question is: She can sing like Britney, but can she resist acting like her with a little fame, ala Barba? (Who, by the way, we haven't heard from whatsoever, despite all the predictions of her achieving [porn]stardom from the horndog section last year.)

That girl last night could sing TOO!!! Awesome...I'm voting for her then..heheheh. She was a hottie.

There seems to be a developing consensus here that the Britney impersonator girl and the horse trainer girl are the class of the competition thus far. I agree. They are both beautiful and can REALLY sing. I am looking forward to seeing what they do in Hollywood.

I need to see the other contestants, but so far, every year I've picked either #1 or #2 from the Audition Round. I've been lucky though because they don't show all the good ones in the Audition Round. Wonder how they pick and choose who they want to show, and do the background on, in respect to the ones that made it through to HW?

My guess is that they show the most interesting.

I remember last year that the male crowd seemed very weak. So far it' seems to be shaping up the same way, but that could be misleading.

I guess it's a good thing that that dude who was 19 and hadn't kissed a girl didn't make it to Hollywood. He would really have a bad time there.

Again I saw motion blocking during this show. Is FOX not sending the same mbps as they did last year? I almost never see blocking on FOX. OTA, no multicasting.

I seem to see this one differently than the rest of you. Plant or not, this was something that should not be shown IMO. If he was not a plant, this is the kind of freak one should be afraid of, and he should not be getting air time. If it was a plant, IMO..that is a bad joke. Those that have been stalked and hurt or killed, may not think it is so funny. The producers of this show, even though I like watching the talent part...go way over the edge in showing things like this...including the mentally impaired (Paula not included), and others with all their f'in language. Boy, I sound like a prude...but I guess I have had enough.
