Sounds good! On a related note, how does this particular unit fair in comparison to some of the newer Panny plasmas? Does it calibrate out well?

The display is from 4.5 yrs ago, so the black levels are not as good as today's Panny's, but the color accuracy is probably close to equal with the ST30. I use it in my main family room with some ambient light, and when company visits, they consistently mention what a good picture it produces. My setting really make this display sing.

It still looks good enough that it doesn't make me itch to upgrade it yet. No floating blacks or fluctuating brightness issues, no IR, or burn issues.

Have you changed your calibration settings over the years? Do you adjust the brightness to make up for the screen loosing brightness?

The only thing that makes me want a new TV is the heat it produces and the power consumption.

You don't use the brightness control to increase light output. The brightness control adjust black level. The only way to adjust light output on these displays is to adjust contrast/picture setting, or going into the service menu and adjusting the all-drive setting.
